| This paper discusses the generalization of contemporary address terms from the perspective of sociolinguistics.This study focuses on the performance,process,mechanism and reasons of the generalization of address terms,as well as the awareness,use and attitude of the public.The purpose is to explore the interactive relationship between the development and use of address terms and social development and change,and understand the characteristics of the development of contemporary Chinese address terms from one side.The thesis consists of fix chapters.Chapter one briefly introduces the research topic selection,research object,methodologies,corpus source and research significance.It also defines the relevant terms and reviews the research status of appellation generalization.Chapter two describes the performance,distribution,process and degree of appellation generalization.The generalization of address terms includes semantic generalization and pragmatic generalization.The semantic generalization of address terms is manifested in the reduction of connotation,the dilution of emotional color and the expansion of extension,as well as the improvement of grammatical function.The pragmatic generalization of address terms is manifested in the growth of user groups,the expansion of use regions,the expansion of use fields and the expansion of different users.The generalization of contemporary appellation terms is distributed in kinship appellation terms and non-kinship appellation terms.The generalized non-kinship appellation terms include name,title appellation terms,general appellation terms,social role appellation terms,characteristic appellation terms and appellation terms in specific professional fields.The generalization of address terms can be divided into three stages: temporary expansion and use,frequent expansion but unfixed use,forming a fixed generalized meaning.The generalization of address terms may overlap with each other in different stages intersect.There are two indexes to measure the degree of generalization of address terms: the degree of correlation between the generalized meaning and the original meaning of address terms;The wide or narrow range of combination of appellation.Chapter three analyzes the socio-pragmatic function,mechanism,causes and diffusion conditions of the generalization of address terms.The generalization of address terms has the functions of politeness,affection,reflection,cultural communication,identity and identity construction.Metaphor,metonymy,semantic transplantation and different interpretation are the main mechanisms of appellation generalization.The internal causes of the generalization of address terms are: the fuzziness and economy of language,the dynamic adjustment of vocabulary system,the needs of the development of address terms,and the similarity or correlation between the old and new concepts of address terms.While the social motivations include: the vacancy of address terms,the narrow reference scope of existing address terms,the evolution of hierarchy and values,the improvement of social value of address terms and the pursuit of better expression effect.High frequency of use,the influence of language users,the birth of social events and the promotion of new media are the conditions for the generalization and diffusion of address terms.Chapter four is the investigation and analysis of the awareness,use and attitude of the generalization of address terms.A questionnaire survey is conducted on the awareness,use and attitude of the generalized meaning usage of 12 Internet address terms in the public,and analyzes the impact of four social variables: occupation,gender,age and education on people’s use of the generalized meaning of address terms and their attitude.Chapter five discusses the influence,developtment trend and standardization of appellation generalization.The generalization of address terms affects the change of Chinese address system,brings the simplification of address system,the reduction and depreciation of address terms,promotes the replacement of address terms,and leads to the morpheme and word family of address terms.The generalization of contemporary address terms shows the trend of intimacy,pan gender,spreading outward from the online community and shortening the generalization cycle.The abuse of generalized address terms is manifested in many fields.The norms of the abuse of generalized address terms should be treated differently according to the causes and effects,and adhere to the language practice as the only standard to measure the language norms.Chapter six is the conclusion.Summarize the full paper. |
