Modern Chinese "wife" Category Syria Said The Sociolinguistics Study

The so-called descriptive wife appellation refers to a form of appellation used by speakerin the process of verbal communication when they described his wife or someone else’swife,does not include the nickname and zero appellation.The descriptive wife appellation asan appellation,through the investigation of its use,not only for us to better understand andgrasp the wife appellation’s cultural differences, geographic differences and trends in use haveimportant theoretical significance,and guide people to better use language has a veryimportant practical significance,too.In this paper, we conducted a wide survey of the useage of descriptive wife appellationin hundreds of cities across the country,collected a total of159different patterns ofdescriptive wife appellation.On this basis,through statistical analysis methods to quantify,thispaper conduct more comprehensive analysis on descriptive wife appellation from theperspective of sociolinguistics.First, according to the survey results of the analysis,wife appellation can be divided intocompliment, derogatory and neutral categories,has two characteristics:based mainly ontwo-syllable and modifier-core structures.Meanwhile, the paper also combines a user’s age,occupation, education level, geographical and other factors, conduct analysis on wifeappellation’s differences exist in use.Secondly, this paper analyzes and explores the sociocultural and psychological behindthe descriptive wife appellation,think that the wife appellation reflects the institution ofmarriage, the patriarchal system, urban and rural differences, the north-south differences insocio-cultural and respect, praise, humility, contempt, moderation and other socialpsychology.Again,this paper compares static dynamic synchronic and diachronic description,analysison the development trend of the descriptive wife appellation,think that the descriptive wifeappellation tends to Mandarin,tends to neutral words, tends to double syllable.
