| Interdisciplinary integration is the trend of contemporary scientific development and an important way to obtain original scientific innovations.Facing the national innovation strategy and scientific development,exploring how to identify potential innovation opportunities among disciplines by using interdisciplinary methods to address complex problems and thus promote major breakthroughs and innovations in scientific researches,has become a significant research content in the field of interdisciplinary research.Nevertheless,most of the existing research on innovation opportunities is based on the hot topics in the rapid development or mature period to detect,and some potential cross-disciplinary topics in the early developing stages are easily overlooked,therefore,some innovation opportunities may be omitted.In view of this,this paper takes the interdisciplinary as the entrance to the research,proposes a set of methods to discover innovation opportunities from interdisciplinary integration perspective,and focuses on solving two problems:(1)How to identify potential intersections among disciplines and realize the early discovery of potential interdisciplinary topics?(2)How to recognize favorable conditions for interdisciplinary innovation based on potential interdisciplinary topics,so as to discover innovation opportunities under interdisciplinary integration?(1)A set of discovery method framework for interdisciplinary-integration innovation opportunity was designed.This paper took "finding intersections,judging integration,and discovering opportunities" as the main research idea,and constructed a method framework to discover innovation opportunities from the interdisciplinary research angle.First of all,the formation mechanism of interdisciplinary integration innovation was deeply explored and analyzed,and the theoretical research on innovation opportunities from the perspective of interdisciplinary integration was expanded.Secondly,rooted from the formation mechanism of interdisciplinary integration innovation,the time window and favorable conditions for opportunity generation were comprehensively considered,and a method for discovering innovation opportunities based on multi-dimensional topic networks was proposed,including "constructing topic networks","identifying potential interdisciplinary topic" and "measuring innovation characteristics and identifying innovation opportunities".The method was steadily progressive,gradually deepening,hence successfully revealing the development process of disciplines from intersection to integration to realizing innovation,which could make the discovery of innovation opportunities from interdisciplinary integration more systematic and scientific.(2)Aiming at the first problem mentioned above,a method to identify potential interdisciplinary topics based on relationship between disciplines and knowledge fusion process was proposed.The research was mainly carried out on two aspects: interdisciplinary topics’ recognition and cross points’ knowledge fusion degree measurement,which could identify potential interdisciplinary topics in the latent and sprouting periods of knowledge fusion.Firstly,the extraction rules of Discipline-linked entities were analyzed and designed,and a calculation method of interdisciplinary potential based on related entities between disciplines was built,both of which realized interdisciplinary topics’ identification and solved the problem of potential cross points’ identification.Besides,in order to reveal the process of knowledge fusion,the feature measuring indexes and methods of interdisciplinary topics in the knowledge fusion stage centered on fusion strength,fusion breadth and fusion depth were constructed.Finally,based on the interdisciplinary topics’ knowledge fusion stage characteristics and judging rules,the interdisciplinary topics in the latent and sprouting period of knowledge fusion were identified as potential interdisciplinary topics.This is one of the main innovation points of this paper.(3)Aiming at the second problem above,a method for discovering innovation opportunities of interdisciplinary integration was proposed,and the research on the measurement method of innovation characteristics of interdisciplinary integration and the identification of innovation opportunities was carried out on the basis of identifying potential interdisciplinary topics.In the first place,the innovation characteristic measuring indexes and measuring methods of interdisciplinary integration were set,and the characteristic index was integratedly measured by bibliometric methods and social network analysis method,all of which realized the comprehensive measurement of innovation’s various characteristics in the process of dynamic evolution and provided reliable measurement indicators and measurement methods to identify interdisciplinary integration innovation opportunities.In addition,the judging logic of interdisciplinary integration innovation opportunities was designed and proposed,and a discovery method for interdisciplinary integration innovation opportunities based on potential interdisciplinary topics and characteristics of interdisciplinary integration innovations was constructed.This is also one of the main innovation points of this paper.(4)Taking synthetic biology as the source subject field and rice genetic improvement as the target subject field,an empirical analysis was implemented to verify effectiveness of the above methods.The research results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively identify interdisciplinary innovation opportunities,and provide reference and support for discovering new research fields and subject growth points,and solving major problems of human society and science and technology. |
