Abstract/Summary:
The public cultural space in rural areas has multiple dimensions and attributes, including material, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects. It is currently a focus of rural construction and an important lever for rural cultural revitalisation. The rapid development of capital going to the countryside and the rural cultural tourism industry has brought new development opportunities for constructing rural public cultural spaces. However,it has also led to the emergence of diverse complexity in the updating process. On the one hand, the impact of commodification has led to a gradual consumer trend in current rural public cultural spaces, further leading to spatial alienation or convergence. On the other hand, material, social, and spiritual spaces are separa ted, resulting in cultural identity and collective memory disappearing. In the construction process, the traditional social-spatial structure of rural areas requires adherence to cultural inheritance and protection. At the same time, industry, capital, and information technology are increasingly superimposed and mixed in spatial practices, posing challenges to current innovative developments. From a multidisciplinary perspective and based on the main theories of spatial sociology, this dissertation integrates and studies the material, social, and spiritual attributes of rural public cultural spaces in the spatial, social, and cultural fields.F rom consideration of element composition to the level of design methods,it proposes construction strategies for rural public cultural spaces with social and spatial correlation.Following the approach of "proposing research questions-establishing theoretical foundations-analysing element characteristics-analysing evolutionary mechanisms-evaluating value dimensions-constructing construction strategies" to conduct the whole research. The investigation emanates from the research background of rural cultural revitalisation and cultural tourism industry intervention. This dissertation then systematically summarises the concept and connotation of contemporary rural public cultural spaces and proposes a research framework that integrates four dimensions:material, life, production, and spirit.Secondly,by considering the coexistence of nature and society, material and non-material,diachronic and synchronicity,it analyses the fundamental elements of rural public cultural space, links the elements of culture and activity with a place, and summarises their types and hierarchical relationships.Notably, the dissertation makes a quantitative study on the representation of spatial morphology through space syntax and analyses and proves its spatial sociological significance.Thirdly, the evolution and reconstruction mechanisms of the five stages of rural public cultural spaces are analysed from three aspects: kinetic energy, function, and form;the structurally related elements are analysed at a deeper level, and the evolution and development trend of rural public cultural spaces is studied and judged. On this basis,it conducts phenomenon reflection and value discrimination on the contemporary rural public cultural spaces, analyses the value dimension, discusses the construction path of cultural resource management data integration, constructs the value evaluation model from the physical dimension, mechanism dimension and activity dimension, and initially establishes a comprehensive value evaluation system. Finally, the construction models of industrial coupling, spatial superposition, function optimisation, and social network integration are proposed based on the construction principles of the subject’s daily life practice,subject-object interest symbiosis, differentiated identification, and dynamic participatory design. In combination with the construction projects the research team and I have participated in during recent years, the design practice and theoretical evidence are undertaken from three aspects:cultural ecological continuity, cultural resource management integration and regional cultural guidance. The research conclusions include: 1)from a spatial sociology perspective, combining macro spatial production with micro daily life practice, and systematically constructing a multidimensional research framework based on physical, modal, and mental spaces, expanding the research scope of rura l public cultural spaces;2)from a spatial production theory perspective, analysing and re-recognising the evolution process of rural public cultural spaces, highlighting the development trends of mature kinetic energy, compound functions, and orderly patterns;3)providing actionable quantitative evaluation methods and clarifying the indicator weights for element evaluation, and 4)the establishment of a multidimensional construction connotation, and proposal of a holistic construction model for contemporary rural public cultural spaces to respond to the complex dynamic factors of industries, resources, space, and culture, for example,in the development process. The research outcomes have theoretical guidance values and practical significance for constructing ecological livability and rural civilisation projects in rural areas.
