At present, the Global Value Chain(GVC)is the new normal of global economic development. As a new organization and governance mechanism,it has become an important factor affecting global carbon emissions.Recently,China has continuously integrated into the GVC division of labor system, and the transportation industry,as the glue of various production departments, has played an increasingly important role in GVC.Participating in GVC embedding not only promotes the development of infrastructure construction in China’s transportation industry, but also expands the network scale of China’s transportation industry. However, the increase in transportation services also brings more carbon emissions. The transportation industry is the third largest carbon emission industry after power and manufacturing, and it is also one of the industries with the fastest growth in energy consumption.Under the “dual carbon” goal and the “dual circulation” development pattern China’s transportation industry is facing increasing pressure on energy and carbon emissions. In order to ensure the economic benefits of participating in GVC and avoid excessive environmental costs,it is urgent to find a new way to improve the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry under the GVC framework. Therefore,it is very important to correctly understand the impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry and to clarify the internal mechanism of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry. The thesis uses a combination of theoretical research and empirical research to demonstrate and test the main issues raised, providing theoretical support and empirical evidence for GVC governance and carbon emission reduction governance. In terms of theoretical analysis and theoretical model construction: First, put GVC embedding and carbon emission efficiency in the same analysis framework, study the environmental effects and influencing factors under the GVC framework, and the spatial characteristics and dynamic mechanism of GVC embedding that affect carbon emission efficiency.Theoretically analyze the micro-mechanism of the effect of GVC embedding on carbon emission efficiency.Secondly, based on the industry characteristics of the transportation industry, from a cost perspective, the GVC embedded factors are incorporated into the cost function of the transportation industry to derive GVC into the theoretical model of the impact on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry;further, consider the space of factors Liquidity, combined with Helpman and Coe’s theoretical model on the impact of intermediate products on regional productivity, extends the analysis of the impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry to the spatial level, and describes the spatial spillover of the impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry Effect; Finally, based on the possible set of Kuosmanen’s environmental production that includes energy and environmental factors,a model of the improvement mechanism of carbon emission efficiency is constructed.Based on the above theoretical analysis and model derivation results, the paper conducts empirical tests from the industry level and the regional level.Firsly, the WWYZ production chain measurement algorithm is used to measure the embedding degree of GVC from the dual perspectives of embedding direction and embedding type, and the non-radial DDF model is used to measure the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry Empirically test the impact of GVC embedding mode on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry through the econometric regression model.Secondly, geospatial factors are factors that cannot be ignored when studying the impact of GVC on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry. Therefore, taking spatial factors into consideration, continue to explore the spatial spillover impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry.Based on the spatial Dubin panel model, empirically test the spatial spillover effect and spatial spillover scope of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry. Finally,in order to more clearly present the path of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry, this paper adopts system dynamics based on the causal relationship among economic subsystems, social subsystems, environmental subsystems, and transportation industry subsystems. The model visualizes the path of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry. From the above, the following conclusions can be drawn: From an industry perspective:(1)Forward GVC embedding can improve the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry, while backward GVC embedding has a hindering effect;(2)As the number of cross-borders increases, backward GVC embedding has an effect on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry. The hindering effect will be weakened. From a spatial perspective:(1)The degree of GVC embedding and the carbon emission efficiency of the transportation industry have obvious spatial correlation characteristics;(2)The GVC embedding has a significant positive spatial spillover effect on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry, indicating that China’s transportation industry The carbon emission efficiency of the industry is not only affected by the GVC embedding in the region, but also by the interaction of GVC embedding in neighboring regions;(3)The spatial spillover effect of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry has geographic boundaries with spatial attenuation characteristics, and presents The weakening trend of gradient.Since the above studies are based on the impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency itself, ignoring the impact on the internal structure of carbon emission efficiency, continue to explore the internal impact of GVC embedding on the carbon emission efficiency of China’s transportation industry from the perspective of driving forces, and find the “Leading effect” is the priority factor, the “Catch-up effect” is the second best factor, and the “Innovation effect” is the factor to be broken through. |
