| With the increasing participation of Chinese manufacturing industry in the global value chain,China has become the “world factory” and manufacturing power.However,the reliance on the “demographic dividend” has led to the phenomenon of“low-end locking” in the manufacturing industry,which to a large extent is not conducive to China’s development into a manufacturing power.With the development of The Times,Chinese manufacturing is facing the inevitable transformation from high-speed growth to high-quality development.The report to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly stated that “we will foster a number of world-class advanced manufacturing clusters and move Chinese industries to the medium-high end of the global value chain”.Compared with the traditional manufacturing industry,advanced manufacturing industry has the characteristics of strong innovation vitality,high complexity and rich results.Therefore,increasing efforts to promote the development of advanced manufact uring and promote advanced manufacturing to move up the global value chain will not only expand the growth space of the manufacturing industry,but also help China to move from a“manufacturing power” to a “manufacturing power”.In addition,from the 19th to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the 14 th Five-Year Plan and the 2035 Vision Plan have all pointed out that "integration is the inevitable path to high-quality development of the manufacturing industry".In particular,the rep ort of the 20th CPC National Congress in October 2022 further proposed to “build a new system of high-quality and efficient service industries,and promote the deep integration of modern service industries with advanced manufacturing and modern agriculture.” This shows that the deep integration of modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry is a strategic choice to promote the rise of the global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry.Therefore,it has important theoretical and applied value to reveal how the integration of modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry influences the rise of global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry.First,this paper systematically combs the relevant theories.From the concept definition,value chain theory,industrial integration theory,international division of labor theory,and the effect mechanism of the integration of two industries on the rise of the global value chain of advanced manufacturing industry,the theoretical basis of the integration of two industries and the rise of the global value chain of advanced manufacturing industry is systematically reviewed.Second,it analyzes the current situation of Chinese advanced manufacturing industry participating in global value chain.From the overall perspective,the overall development trend of China’s advanced manufacturing is good,and the degree of integration of China’s advanced manufacturing in the global value chain and its contribution to the global value chain trade are relatively stable.From the position and status of different industries of advanced manufacturing in the global value chain,some industries are in the middle of the smile curve,while some industries are gradually improving their position and status in the global value chain.Third,the integration of China’s two industries under GVC is measured.According to the measurement results of relevant data from 1995 to 2018,the integration development level of modern service industry and a dvanced manufacturing industry in China has been greatly improved,but the integration degree of modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry,modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry,modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry is different.At the same time,the integration of modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry in China still faces a series of challenges under GVC.Then,we empirically test the influence of the integration of the t wo industries on the rise of the global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry.The benchmark regression results show that the integration of the two industries has a positive impact on the position of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain,and the impact of the integration of the two industries on the position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain shows a significant “inverted U” shape.Robustness test and endogeneity test confirm t hat the conclusion is robust and reliable.Quantile regression results show that the influence of the integration of the two industries on the global value chain position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry is significantly positive only in the midd le and high score loci,and the influence on the global value chain position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry presents an “inverted U” shape at all loci,and the influence is greater at the high score loci.Next,the influence of heterogeneous in tegration on the global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry is further examined.The benchmark regression results show that the integration of the two industries inhibits the improvement of the position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain,but promotes the improvement of the position of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain.The threshold effect test results show that there are significant double threshold effect a nd triple threshold effect of industry heterogeneity on the position and status of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry in global value chain.Also,the mediation effect model is used to test the mechanism of the influence of the integration of the two industries on the global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry.The results show that the direct effect of the integration of two industries on the position of global value chain of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry through FDI is po sitive,while the indirect effect is negative.Both direct and indirect effects on the position of Chinese advanced manufacturing industry in global value chain are positive.In terms of the mechanism of technological innovation,the effect of the integration of two industries on the position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry in global value chain through technological innovation is not significant.The promotion of global value chain status of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry is mainly achieved through the direct channel of the integration of the two industries.In the mechanism of capital deepening,as the integration of the two industries,the mediating effect of capital deepening on the position of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain is negative,while the mediating effect on the position of China’s advanced manufacturing industry in the global value chain is positive.In terms of the mechanism of industrial agglomeration,the indirect effect of the integration of two industries on the position of global value chain of China ’s advanced manufacturing industry through industrial agglomeration is not significant.Industrial agglomeration itself has a positive impact on the global value chain status of Ch ina’s advanced manufacturing industry,but the integration of the two industries has a negative impact on industrial agglomeration.At last,the paper puts forward some suggestions on how to promote the global value chain of China’s advanced manufacturing industry by the integration of the two industries.It includes promoting the in-depth integrated development of the two industries,rationally utilizing the spillover effect of FDI,adhering to the innovation-driven development strategy,maintaining the ap propriate capital deepening situation and promoting industrial agglomeration in an orderly way. |
