“Putting cultural construction in a prominent position in the overall situation” is an important plan made by the Party and the State for the “14th Five-Year Plan” period and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.As the remains of educational culture in the process of higher education,university heritage is an important part of the higher education system and cultural heritage.It is necessary to draw governance wisdom and inherent spiritual values from the traditional culture of universities for promoting the high-quality development of higher education in the new era.And the unique academic spirit,cultural character and material relics of centuryold universities provide rich resources available for this goal.The existence of university heritage is complex and diverse.And the incomplete understanding of its value,the unclear rights and responsibilities of universities as management subjects,and the lack of corresponding evaluation indicators and judgment criteria need to be addressed from the method and theoretical system of value evaluation management.To effectively respond to these questions,placing educational heritage in the macro view of modern university governance and development from an educational value perspective and treating university heritage as a holistic and independent subject investigated.Starting from the diversity and heterogeneity of educational heritage values in China,the discussion is divided into three main parts: firstly,a comprehensive representation of the value orientation of university heritage from the level of theoretical construction;secondly,the evaluation and verification of the hierarchical value of university heritage of different types and their combined value by using empirical analysis;finally,the analysis and application of the evaluation results are used to give a reasonable path to optimize the realization of values.From the perspective of higher education management,this study adopts a mixed research approach combining quantitative research and qualitative analysis and focuses on constructing an assessment method of value and evaluation systems for university heritage based on value philosophy and cultural reproduction theory.In the research,the educational heritage of 25 universities in Jiangsu Province with a history of one hundred years are classified and sorted out.Laws and educational attributes are generated based on the heritage’s value.Through literature combing and experts review,5 primary indicators,21 secondary indicators,and 64 tertiary indicators are established for the value evaluation of university heritage.The weights of each indicator are determined through the analytic hierarchy process and expert scoring method.Four basic categories of primary educational heritage,secondary educational heritage,tertiary educational heritage,and educational heritage memorial sites are refined.The selection of evaluation criteria and the evaluation system of university heritage are based on the middle-level perspective of “universities organizational heritage”.An analysis of the value of the eight dimensions of the ontology of university heritage: historical-cultural value,socio-communal value,educational inheritance value,Sci-tech value,artistic aesthetic value,cultural creative value,socioeconomic value,brand-building value.It also interprets the semantic meaning of important practical methods such as intervention level,the continuation of utilization,reconstruction and renewal of places of heritage management,which provides a way to solve practical problems such as recognition and evaluation management of university heritage value.The value evaluation and management practice of university heritage is based on the actual situation of the heritage and its value generation.Based on the absolute superiority of the university heritage in Jiangsu area in terms of quantity and the comprehensiveness and completeness of the type,the century-old universities and colleges in Jiangsu Province are selected,which educational heritage is representative of the university heritage in modern China.A comprehensive heritage data survey is conducted and summarized five types of university heritage composition.Under the value orientation of different types of heritage elements,this study also proposes three basic principles of value practice,based on which scope is delineated for evaluation validation,including the definition of the overall environment,tangible heritage,intangible heritage,etc.The test of heritage elements includes temporal continuity,geographical relevance,typological diversity,and structural integrity.The study also pays particular attention to the qualities of educational heritage and living heritage in colleges,notices the emphasis and distinction of intangible educational heritage forms,finally expands and refines the attribute categories of university heritage,and clarifies the relational types of their values.Finally,the evaluation results are analyzed in terms of the value characteristics,usage status,and geographical distribution of university heritage at all levels,completing the core task of evaluating and determining the value.Based on the path setting of university heritage value practice,combined with geographic information graphics technology,the data visualization analysis of the value evolution trend of the university heritage,such as the temporal and spatial evolution,geographical difference,distribution scale,and migration status,has been given.Proposed classification recommendations and offered the basis for the classification evaluation.The bottom-up management logic implements the rights and responsibilities of colleges and universities as the main management body.The process of value evaluation in cultural form is constructed as “value identification and expression-value evaluation and analysis-evaluation results and grading-application of results and value realization”.The cultural value evaluation process has improved the index quantification method for evaluating university heritage value,constructed the comprehensive evaluation index of university heritage,and provided policy recommendations for the effective management of university heritage.There are 45 figures,55 tables and 218 references in this thesis.
