Abstract/Summary:
In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC),Xi Jinping stressed that we encourage our people to create fine works that are thought provoking and of a high artistic standard,that reflect real life,and that extol our Party,our country,our people,and our heroes.In carrying out ideological work,the CPC advocate the cultivation of fine tastes,style,and a sense of responsibility,resisting vulgarity and kitsch.Moreover,we should use assorted cultural forms to vividly express every detail of the core socialist values,and use high-quality works to instruct people what is true,good and beautiful,what is false,evil and ugly,what should be highly praised,and what must be strictly prohibited.The method of which resembles the rain nourishing all without a sound.Through the literary and artistic works to convey the party’s ideological policy,realize the role of educating people and leading people.Chinese thematic painting,a kind of formative art,has played a role in conveying national ideology,enlightening and educating people during the revolutionary period,the exploration of socialist construction and the reform and opening up.As early as 1926,when Chairman Mao established the sixth peasant movement institute in Guangzhou,he advocated to spread the Party’s theory in easy-to-understand artistic forms like revolutionary paintings and emphasized to implement the proletarian revolutionary spirit by the art work which is supposed to serve the proletarian revolutionary struggle.On the Forum of art and literature in October 2014,Xi Jinping mentioned that the thriving development of Chinese culture is indispensible in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Art and literature is the horn of the times,which best represents the style and ethos of an era.He also stressed that literary and art workers shape our people’s minds,and contemporary art and literature take patriotism as the dominant theme of creation so as to guide people to pursue positive views of history,nationality,country and culture.That is also how we enhance the confidence and pride of being a Chinese.In February 2017,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the "Opinions on Strengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Work of Colleges and Universities in the New Situation",calling on the ideological and political workers to carry out colorful and inspiring events concerning academy,science and technology,sports,art,and entertainment.Moreover,education should be well embodied through cultural events by combining moral instruction with intellectual,physical and aesthetic education.In his reply to the senior professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts in August 2018,Xi Jinping emphasized that art education is an important part of aesthetic education and plays an important role in shaping a beautiful soul.We should strengthen aesthetic education with roots in real life and respect the laws of literature and art for carrying forward the spirit of Chinese aesthetic education,so that the young generation will grow up cheerfully with both physical and mental health.It can be seen clearly that Chinese thematic painting,one of the cultural and artistic forms to spread our country’s leading ideology,plays a pivotal role in implementing ideological and political education for cultivation and it has always been taken seriously throughout the ages.In the new era,masses of our people further improve their aesthetic consciousness and support leading ideology with the help of Chinese thematic painting.In recent years,the establishment and improvement of glory code system has brought new opportunities to the creation of Chinese thematic painting.For example,The foundation of the national art creation project themed major revolutionary history and the support of national art fund policies are parts of it.As a result,groups of paintings that extol the major theme are sprouting.Under the complex circumstances at both home and abroad,the study on the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting is not only in compliance with the requirements of our age,but also a necessity for exerting the Party’s ideological leadership under new historical strategic opportunities.Based on this issue,this paper attempts to conduct an overall construction and theoretical exploration.Taking the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting as its core,the thesis discusses five aspects progressively: academic analysis,structural analysis,diachronic analysis,consensus analysis and strategic analysis.Therefore,this study is divided into five chapters.Chapter one: academic analysis.The paper starts with relevant concepts concerning the educational function of ideological and political education as well as Chinese thematic painting,demonstrating what the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting is all about.And four relations between these two objects are further claimed—the consistency of targets,the identity of objects,the response of contents,and the mutuality of functions.And further analyze the four characteristics of the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting—the affinity to the people embodied by objects,the performance of contents,the political nature of functions and the epochal character of historical development.Chapter two: structural analysis.Based on the academic analysis,this chapter further discusses what exactly the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting is.In a word,the educational function is well played in ways of beauty,affection and moral.Chapter three: diachronic analysis.This chapter focuses on the diachronic structure analysis at the level of longitudinal dynamics.Chinese thematic paintings during the new democratic revolution,exploration period of socialist construction and reform and opening up as well as their features of ideological shifts are discussed in this part.Furthermore,three transformations that the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting has experienced are summarized.Chapter four: consensus analysis.After the analysis of historical context combined with the current development pattern,this chapter focuses on the horizontal consensus analysis.Firstly,the educational concept of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting is clarified as a whole.Secondly,the opportunities that the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting will encounter in the new era are analyzed.Finally,the challenges that the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting is going to face in the new era are discussed.Chapter five: strategic analysis.In combination with the challenges mentioned above,this chapter discusses how the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting play its role in a ground-breaking way by setting up ideal models.What comes first is the statement of overall guiding ideology,according to the report delivered at the 19 th National Congress of the CPC and the Forum of art and literature.The author then proposed four optimization principles for ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting which are linked to practical requirements of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.Moreover,carrier platforms are also established.Next,in the aspect of subjective relationships,the correlations among regulatory subject,creative subject and reception subject are figured out.And the "three-dimensional circulation" mechanism is constructed.Finally,Chinese thematic painting is supposed to boast a higher level of cultural and spiritual content by integrating mechanism of "Culture +" and "Internet +".That is how the educational function of ideological and political education of Chinese thematic painting plays its role effectively.
