English is a communicative language tool,acting as a bridge between Chinese and western cultures.It is a crucial transmission tool of western culture.In the process of learning English,students are exposed continuously to western ideology and cultures.Therefore,it is necessary to maintain correct ideological and political trends and establish correct values while improving English language ability.President Xi Jinping emphasized that “we should keep in mind the focus on morality and integrity for professionals and carry out the ‘ideological and political education’ throughout the entire process of education,educating people in an all-round and whole-process way”.Under the background of the new era,facing the particular group of senior high school students,how to integrate the ideological and political education into the teaching of various subjects has become a significant task for educators.Based on Marxist cognitive infiltration theory,this thesis aims to study the integration of “ideological and political education” in Fuzhou High School English from the perspective of “Cultivating People through Subjects”.The thesis found that:1)As to the teaching materials(take PEP as an example),PEP pays more attention to the study of western culture.In terms of thematic meaning,PEP helps to cultivate and observe the Core Socialist Values to some extent.2)As to English teaching(take the high schools in the six districts of Fuzhou as the main research objects),English teachers’ awareness of cultivating and observing Core Socialist Values needs to be strengthened.3)As to the text theme in English language assessment,the reading texts used to evaluate students’ English language ability and academic level are lacking in integrating elements of Core Socialist Values.As for the basic elements that conform to Core Socialist Values,the overall compliance is low,less than 40%.Based on the current situation and existing problems about “the integration of ideological and political education in Fuzhou high school English teaching”,the thesis aims to put forward specific countermeasures for the implementation of “the integration of ideological and political education in Fuzhou high school English”,including teaching materials,teaching and teaching evaluation,which can provide a useful reference for further enhancing the effectiveness of ideological and political education. |
