Abstract/Summary: | |
A fire refuge concept is developed for a high rise hotel of fire resistant construction. Existing methodologies for evaluation of the design concept are reviewed. The fault tree analysis model is selected and a logic diagram developed. To demonstrate the methodology, an example building and fire scenario are developed to provide a risk comparison in a high rise hotel with and without a fire refuge design concept. The decrease in risk to occupants using the bathroom refuge design concept during a structure fire will be demonstrated numerically. Occupant safety from fire in fire resistant high rise structures will be estimated utilizing the model developed in this study. |
