Abstract/Summary:
This study reports an exploratory investigation of Information Culture and Management Discipline characteristics that may influence organizational performance through the effective use of Decision Support Systems. The study builds on Thomas H. Davenports theories relative to Information Ecology. It is proposed that organizations indicating the presence of a mature information culture, and well disciplined management processes, will demonstrate above average performance following the implementation of a sophisticated Decision Support System. The findings suggest that Information Culture and Management Discipline characteristics do not significantly influence organizational performance improvement as measured by change in the EVA to Capital Assets Ratio.
