Abstract/Summary:
A multisensory virtual environment has multiple sensory feedbacks such as visual, haptic, and aural feedbacks. Our multisensory system includes a multi-level image-based rendering system, a hybrid rendering system and a virtual milling machine. The multilevel image-based rendering system uses conventional RGB images, achieve progressive refinement at run time. The hybrid rendering system integrates the geometry-based rendering and image-based rendering. The system has the best properties of the two integrated rendering schemes. It achieves the efficiency of image-based rendering and preserves the attributes of geometric objects.
