Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this dissertation study was to determine if organizations using the Capability Maturity Model IntegrationRTM (CMMI) have a greater probability of achieving compliance to the model utilizing real-time process audits than those organizations executing post mortem audits. The sample for this study was 74 organizations that had been working on compliance to the CMMI for at least six months. The sample was collected using an e-mail survey. This research used a proportional stratified sample design, dividing the population into two layers. Four hypotheses were tested, which asked if the timing of PPQA audits, the size of the organization, or the involvement of senior management had an impact on implementing the CMMI. The only variable that was found to be significant in achieving compliance to the model was the involvement of senior management.
