Abstract/Summary:
This study measured trust in virtual teams by analyzing four antecedents of trust. The antecedents of trust are independent variables that correlate with the dependent variable of trust or trustworthiness. If there is a significant correlation between these variables then trust is found to exist in the virtual team. In addition to the determination trust exists between team members, the communication technologies used to collaborate were also explored. The purpose of the study was to determine which if any, technology best supported trust in a virtual team. The results show that the virtual team members trusted their teams but, contrary to previous studies, the least rich communication medium was the most used by the virtual team members and the richest medium was the one least used and most abandoned by the teams surveyed.
