Research Of Establishing And Application Of Virtual Team-oriented Construction CITIS System

The information society is coming. As a traditional low-technology trade, the construction industry encounters challenges from information technology in maintaining its sustainable development. In construction industry, public works have the main body position in national project investment and are related closely with the people's life. Therefore, some measures should be taken to improve the efficiency and transparence of public works.This paper firstly introduces the generation and development of Virtual Team, CALS (Computer Aided Logistics Support) and CITIS (Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service) system and then imports a new concept - CITIS system for public construction projects from the viewpoint of a virtual team concept. The thesis mainly discusses how to establish the Virtual Team-oriented Construction CITIS System. In order to establish the construction CITIS model, the paper analyzes the differences among the Virtual Team-oriented Construction CITIS System, the manufacturing industry CITIS and PMIS (project management information system), the basic architecture, standardized data modeling and security system of the construction CITIS system.The CITIS system suggested here has been applied to local branches of the Korea MOCT (Ministry of Construction and Transportation) and is currently in use. Field evaluation has found that the Korean construction CITIS still lacks collaborative workspace despite its good results on field tests. The lessons learned from field evaluation and user survey are provided to advance the current CITIS toward fully integrated collaborative virtual team. Finally, the thesis studies those problems such as the necessary, technology development, policy and laws of carrying out construction CITIS system in China and provide an implementary plan for construction CITIS system which is fit for the situation of China.
