| Poverty is an important problem which can not be ignored in the process of economic and social development,and it is an important factor affecting the national economic development and social stability.In order to achieve the goal of poverty reduction,the implementation of poverty reduction strategy needs to pay attention to many aspects.For the poor areas,because of the limitations of resource endowment,geographical location and production conditions,the degree of agricultural industrialization is low,and it is difficult for farmers to achieve poverty reduction through the development of non-agricultural employment and conventional agriculture.Characteristic agriculture is a special agricultural industry developed on the basis of regional resources superiority.Compared with conventional agriculture,it has more development advantages,and can promote rural economic development and farmers’ income growth.Wuling mountain area is one of the most stricken areas has rich natural resources and deep poverty.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical value to rely on the development of the characteristic agriculture to guide the farmers to participate actively and help the farmers to get rid of poverty and regional poverty alleviation.The main contents of this paper are summarized as follows:1)The theoretical explanation of poverty reduction in characteristic agriculture.First of all,the related literature and classical theory are reviewed,summarized and reviewed in order to clarify the breakthrough point of this study.Secondly,the type and development mode of characteristic agriculture are combed out.Then,based on comparative advantage theory and factor endowment theory,the basic logic of developing characteristic agriculture in poor areas is discussed.On this basis,from the two aspects of farmers’ optimal allocation and capacity cycle accumulation,the mechanism of farmers’ participation in reducing poverty in characteristic agriculture is revealed.Finally,the basic theoretical cognition of poverty reduction in characteristic agriculture is formed,which provides theoretical support for the empirical analysis.2)Analysis on the development of characteristic agriculture in Wuling mountain area.The main content is starting from the geographical location and resource endowment of Wuling mountain area,analyzing the particularity of the economic development in Wuling mountain area,and analyzing the current situation and dilemma of the characteristic agriculture development,so as to grasp the problem of the characteristic agriculture development in Wuling mountain area as a whole.3)Analysis on the poverty reduction effect of characteristic agriculture in Wuling mountain area.The main content is from the micro perspective of farmers’ individual participation.On the one hand,the paper analyzes the problem of farmers’ participation in the process of the development of the characteristic agriculture in Wuling mountain area,and examines the key factors that affect the decision-making of farmers’ participation.On the other hand,the empirical test of the characteristic agriculture’s poverty reduction effect.Then,analyze the difference between the characteristic agriculture and the farmers with different types of participation.4)Analysis on poverty reduction effect based on different types of characteristic agriculture.The main content is to build an econometric model to empirically test the direction and intensity of different types of characteristic agriculture on the income level and ability level of farmers,and further examine the differences in the roles of farmers of different types and different participation abilities.Finally,the effects of the two types on the agricultural poverty reduction are compared.5)Analysis on poverty reduction effect based on different patterns of characteristic agriculture.The main content is to build an econometric model to empirically test the direction and intensity of different patterns of characteristic agriculture on the income level and ability level of farmers,and further examine the differences in the roles of farmers of different types and different participation abilities.Finally,the effects of the two patterns on the agricultural poverty reduction are compared.6)Construction of promoting mechanism of characteristic agriculture development and reducing poverty in Wuling mountain area.The main content is based on the research conclusions and the actual situation in the Wuling mountain area,focusing on the development of the special vegetable industry in the Wuling mountain area,as well as the support guarantee of the farmers’ participation,participation incentive,ability promotion and so on to Construct a long-term mechanism of promoting the development of the characteristic agriculture and reducing the poverty.The main conclusions of this paper are summarized as follows:1)Depending on the natural resources advantage in the region,the characteristic vegetables in Wuling Mountain area have shown a good development trend in the aspects of characteristic advantage,income increase,industrialization and brand.But at the same time,because of the shackles of fund,technology and management personnel,it restricts the development of the characteristic vegetable industry in scale expansion,organization and standardization.2)To realize poverty reduction through developing characteristic agriculture needs the active participation of farmers,but under the action of multiple factors,the proportion of farmers’ participation is low.On the one hand,it is due to the low participation ability of farmers,on the other hand,it is influenced by the income,cost and risk of characteristic agricultural production.3)Characteristic agriculture can help farmers achieve income growth and capacity improvement,and is more conducive to poor farmers.For farmers with different participation ability,the income growth effect of characteristic agriculture is "inverted U",and the effect of ability promotion is more helpful to the farmers with strong ability.4)There are significant differences in the impact of local and introduced characteristic agriculture on farmers’ income and ability.The introduced characteristic agriculture can help the farmers to realize the income growth and the ability to improve at the same time,and is more beneficial to the poor farmers and low participation farmers,so the effect of reducing the poverty is better than the local characteristic agriculture.5)The enterprise dominant agriculture and the government dominant characteristic agriculture can help farmers to achieve income growth and capacity improvement.However,because of the difference in the poverty reduction effect of farmers with different types and participation capabilities,the two dominant modes of characteristic agriculture also have different effects.The innovations of this paper are mainly summarized as follows:1)In terms of research perspective,this paper studies the poverty reduction effect of characteristic agriculture from the perspective of farmers’ participation,which is different from previous research.The existing research on the poverty reduction of characteristic agriculture focuses on the development of industrialization and the growth of rural economy.Although through these channels,poverty alleviation can be realized,but farmers can not automatically obtain benefits and development opportunities from it.Only through effective participation in the characteristic agricultural management,the poverty alleviation can be achieved.2)In terms of research content,this paper examines the difference of poverty reduction between different types and patterns of characteristic agriculture,and deepens the research contents of poverty reduction in characteristic agriculture.On the other hand,this paper studies farmers’ participation ability,and measures them from two aspects: subjectivity and objectivity.3)In terms of research methods,this paper empirically tests the poverty reduction effect of characteristic agriculture in Wuling mountainou area by using various econometric methods.Including entropy method,nonparametric estimation,quantile regression,probit model,multiple regression model and propensity score matching method.It has made up for the lack of empirical test in previous studies. |
