Image Research Of Xiguan,Guangzhou In The Perspective Of Sense Of Place

With the accelerated process of urbanization,the old city renovation project has become an important part in the development of the city with the background of the urban renewal.Construction the historic district in the old city has become an important way to show the history and culture of a city.However,it is noteworthy that in the process of old city reconstruction,the old city area is constantly facing the danger of landscape homogenization and local meaning digestion.Therefore,how to make the old city not only to keep the historical sense,but also be full of development vitality,moreover,to avoid the blind copy of landscape in the process of tourism development,are the main research problems of this study.Xiguan,is the old name of the core part of Liwan District in Guangzhou.Now,it has a certain scale and valuable historical building groups,and has a relatively complete historical style and typical community culture.In the early time,Xiguan has prosperity business and diversity cultural.In the subsequent development and changes of landscape,Xiguan also constantly broke the inherent cultural characteristics and forms a new landscape image.The development and changes of Xiguan are also the epitome of the construction of Guangzhou city.Therefore,the development of Xiguan can be helpful to present the urban culture of Guangzhou.Firstly,this research first studies the literatures about the history and the development of Xiguan.And Then,based on the perspective of sense of place,the research explores the construction mechanism of landscape images in the interaction process between human and land from the two aspects of natives and tourists.In the study of the natives,this research uses the method of Grounded Theory,through in-depth interviews with the natives who live in the traditional community of Xiguan.Combining with the method of participant observation at the field,this research analyses the the residents' perception of the living environment in Xiguan,including “Landscape continuation”,“landscape disappearance”,“landscape regeneration”.At the last,the research concluded a story line,which is “the rheological and inheriting Xiguan”.In the study of the tourists,by using the method of the questionnaire survey,this research summarizes and analyzes the tourists' perception of the 5 categories of landscape image in Xiguan,which include “Liwan Landscape”,“Xiguan food”,“Business Landscape”,“Xiguan Symbol” and “Artistic landscape”,through the descriptive statistics and the ANOVA,and then,analyses the differences in perception of different populations.At the same time,this research uses the SEM to verify the tourist's sense of place concept model,and provide the theoretical basis to improve the tourism quality of Xiguan according to the hypothesis test results.The main purpose of statistical analysis is to shape the landscape image with more local features in Xiguan.Finally,through the summary and analysis in both studies of the natives and the tourists,the main conclusions are drawn.That is,(1)Xiguan is a typical representative of the landscape evolution in a progressive sense of place;(2)The interaction mechanism between human and land affects the construction process of the local landscape;(3)The construction of local landscape is more open in the context of globalization.And then,this research provides some practical conclusion to the process of old city reconstruction and tourism development in Xiguan.In the l practical conclusion,this research studies the development mode of Chinese historical blocks,and puts forward some corresponding countermeasures for the future development direction of Xiguan old city.
