A Study On The Education Thought Of People's Livelihood In Modern China

The education thought of people's livelihood in modern China originated in the late Qing Dynasty,flourished in the early and middle period of the Republic of China,later,declined and transformed.Under the influence of the thought of saving the country through education,some people of insight realized that "the people are the foundation of the country,when the foundation is firm,will the country be peaceful".In order to save the country on the verge of national subjugation and extinction,we must first save the working people who are in the hot water.Therefore,all kinds of educational thoughts aimed at improving people's livelihood are surging,such as pragmatism,the Three People's Principles,vocational education,life education,civilian education,common people's education,production education,"work and study" education,rural education,new democracy education,etc.,all of which contain the thoughts of education to save people and help people,the thought of benefiting the people.Y.C.James Yen's civilian education,Yu Qingtang's common people's education,and Tai Shuangqiu's livelihood oriented education for people all have a large number of opinions on the people's right to education,education object,teaching content,education function,as well as the creative use of teaching methods and teaching models,all of which reflect the idea of education for people's livelihood.Taking Y.C.James Yen,Yu Qingtang and Tai Shuangqiu as representatives,the study investigates the social background,objective connotation,evolution process and practical influence of the thoughts on modern Chinese education of people's livelihood with methodologies of literature,cases and comparison,on this basis,clarifies its logic and ideological characteristics,and analyzes its limitations and practical enlightenment.The thesis consists of six parts:The introduction part describes the origin of the research on Modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood,defines the related concepts of education of people's livelihood,discusses the current situation of related research and the significance,objectives,contents,methods of this research.The first chapter expounds the social background of the birth of the of modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood.The social background of its emergence is the downfall of modern Chinese politics,the decline of economy,the downswing of culture,the difficulty of education reform,and the decline of people's livelihood;the external source of its emergence is the western scientific and democratic thought and the education thought of Populism.It is found that the modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood is the inheritance and innovation of Chinese traditional People-oriented Thought and Western education thought of populism,which also is the new understanding and expectation of modern Chinese educationists on the function of education for people's livelihood.The second chapter studies the formation and evolution of modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood.From 1905 to 1949,the modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood experienced a period of initial formation,a period of high tide and a transition from the thought of people's livelihood of the Three People's Principles to the thought of the people's livelihood of new democracy or internationalism.The third chapter analyzes the connotation of modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood and examines the content,methods,organizational forms and means of education of people's livelihood practice.In the establishment of educational purposes,the delimitation of educational objects,the choice of educational paths and the content of educational practice,the educationists all show their concern for people's livelihood.In their educational activities,regardless of men,women,old and young,rich and poor,everyone can be the object of education;all the written language,livelihoods,health care,leisure that can improve people's material and spiritual life became their educational content;their educational paths have always been closely linked with people's life.On this basis,compare Y.C.James Yen,Yu Qingtang and Tai Shuangqiu's education thought of people's livelihood,there are not only many similarities but also differences,which embodies the richness of modern Chinese education thoughts of people's livelihood and the flexibility of practice.The fourth chapter combs the logic of modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood,and evaluates it as comprehensively and objectively as possible.The modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood not only has the distinctive characteristics of the times,but also is people-oriented.It is based on life in the choice of education content and the adoption of teaching organization form.Because it came into being in a special era,intellectuals are eager to find a way to save the country and the people,and the limitations of educationists themselves lead to the inevitable defects of the thought of people's livelihood in modern Chinese education.Such as:misunderstanding of the origin of the weak people's poverty;overemphasizing the people's livelihood function of education;having illusions about the existing corrupt and autocratic government;having certain idealistic color;being unable to make up the gap between ideal and reality.The fifth chapter discusses the social influence of modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood,and discusses its enlightenment to the current construction of education of people's livelihood.Modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood is the product of a large number of educationists,such as Y.C.James Yen,Yu Qingtang,Tai Shuangqiu,and so on,who have worked hard to combine their love for the country and the people with their own educational wisdom.Although there are some historical limitations,but one flaw cannot obscure the splendor of the jade.It has a deep understanding of the relationship between education and people,and it gives a creative play to the function of education for people's livelihood.The modern Chinese education thought of people's livelihood in China has had a lot of influence on the society and education itself.It not only renews people's educational concept,enriches educational theory,promotes educational reform,but also improves people's life to a certain extent.In foreign countries,it has not only received attention and praise,but also become the blue guiding for the work of education of people's livelihood in many countries.At present,in the construction of education of people's livelihood in China,we should steadily promote the education for all in the new era,improve and practically implement the policy of education for people's livelihood,pay more attention to the spiritual orientation of education,and strive to eliminate the obstacles of folk's anti-intellectualism to education for people's livelihood,educators should have the feelings of people's livelihood.
