Study On The Factors Influencing Residents Satisfaction Of The Public Space Of Urban Community

Cities are the leading areas of China’s economic and social development.Urban communities are playing an increasingly important role in maintaining social stability,realizing social integration,and satisfying people’s better lives.Community public space is an important spatial form of the community.Serving community residents and satisfying residents needs are the basic values of community public space.Carrying studies on residents satisfaction in community public space has significant meaning in enhancing community residents satisfaction in public space,optimizing the construction of community public space,promoting community governance and realizing a growing good life for people.So the researches which focus on solving the construction problems of community public space,building the construction concept of community public space based on residents satisfaction,and strengthening residents satisfaction in community public space are urgently needed at the present.Public space is a concept of both material and social political significance.Public nature is the core connotation of understanding public space.Based on the theory of public goods and governance theory,the thesis explores the basic attributes of “sharing” and “co-governance” of community public space based on the regional characteristics of the community and the public nature of public space.That is,community residents are important subjects who “share” and jointly “govern” the community public space.This study conducts empirical research on the factors affecting the satisfaction of urban community public space through two basic processes of model construction and model verification.In the model construction,the thesis extracts public space security and accessibility and other influencing factors based on the theory of public space and satisfaction theory;Through field interviews with residents of sample communities in Wuhan and encoding of interview records,the thesis extracts influencing factors of residents satisfaction in community public such as spatial quality and space security.The two types of influencing factors were combined and classified,and 8 potential variables and 26 observation variables including spatial quality,perceived security,and perception reach were selected.Based on the assumption of the correlation between variables,a conceptual model of residents satisfaction in community public space was initially constructed.At the stage of model verification,the thesis drafts questionnaires based on the observation variables of the model,collects data by sending questionnaires to sample communities in Wuhan,and uses AMOS to verify the conceptual model of community-residents satisfaction in public spaces.The verification results show that the majority of the correlations between variables are supported by statistical analysis,and the influencing factors of community-resident satisfaction in public space and their role in satisfaction are clear: Space quality has a significant positive effect on residents satisfaction through space security,spatial accessibility,and residents expectations.It is a basic factor that affects residents satisfaction;the governance mechanism of community public space has a positive impact on the residents satisfaction by affecting the community governance level,which is an implicit factor affecting the residents satisfaction;spatial accessibility has a significant positive effect on the degree of residents satisfaction.It also plays a role as a bridge in the factors of residents satisfaction such as space quality and residents expectations.It is an intermediary factor that affects residents satisfaction;resident expectation is an important reference for residents satisfaction measurement.Adjustment of expectation value will produce different satisfaction,and it is a regulatory factor that affects the residents satisfaction;the community image has an impact on residents satisfaction by affecting residents’ psychological perception.Therefore,it is an external factor affecting the residents satisfaction.Based on the analysis of the influencing factors of residents satisfaction in community public space,the thesis puts forward policy suggestions on correctly understanding the value function of community public space,constructing scientific governance mechanism of community public space,and effectively improving the space quality of community public space.The thesis also explores measures and suggestions for improving residents satisfaction in the community public space.
