The influence of Chinese international communication in Southeast Asia has been steadily increasing, and it has also played a role in shaping and spreading the image of China. The cooperation between China and Myanmar is promising and the spread of Chinese in Myanmar is becoming more and more important. However, the Burmese cognition of China's contemporary economic and social development is still very inadequate. In recent years, the demand for Chinese talents in Myanmar has expanded rapidly, and the spread of Chinese in Myanmar has shown an upward trend. The establishment and development of Confucius Institutes has provided new channels for Myanmar residents to understand China. This study takes the Chinese spread in Myanmar as the main line and the non-Chinese Burmese as the research object, aimed at studying the influence of Chinese communication on the Chinese image cognition of the non-Chinese Burmese. On the basis of sufficient collection of literature, this paper analyzes the current situation of Chinese teaching in Myanmar, and describes the teaching materials, courses and teaching methods of the three major teaching institutions, including Foreign Language University,Confucius Classroom and Tutoring Class.Besides, the relationship between Chinese communication and cultural communication is also discussed in this paper. On this basis, this paper uses the method of empirical research, combined with questionnaires, interviews and field surveys to analyze the influence of Chinese communication on the Chinese image cognition of the non-Chinese Burmese.Through the investigation and in-depth interview of more than 300 non-Chinese residents of various industries in Myanmar, this paper explores the cognitive status of Chinese cultural, military, government, national, economic and product images among non-Chinese Burmese. The results show that the non-Chinese Burmese have very limited knowledge of the Chinese image.Under the influence of history and the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Burmese people have low evaluation of the image of the Chinese government, military and products. But Burmese who have studied Chinese generally have a better cognition of the Chinese image than other people. In terms of culture,China's extensive and profound traditional culture is one of the reasons for the increasing number of Chinese learners in Myanmar today. The Chinese communication institution represented by the Confucius Institute emphasizes the education of Chinese classical culture and does not pay enough attention to the spread of contemporary Chinese image. In some specific activities, the Confucius Institute still has a phenomenon of single form and rigidity in running schools. On the basis of doing their original teaching work well,it is necessary to give full play to their own initiative and flexibility,to adapt to the current international language learning environment,to expand the cultural and language exchanges between the two countries more elaborate. Moreover, the Confucius Institute should carry out the teaching work more smoothly, spread Chinese culture, and establish a good image of Chinese culture in the hearts of non-Chinese Burmese. In terms of government, military and national image,China's image in the hearts of non-Chinese Burmese is not very high due to historical warfare, government interests and disputes between the two sides. At the same time, influenced by the Myanmar government's strict restrictions on Chinese language teaching, the work of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is mainly organized by non-government forces. The Chinese learners are mainly those who have strong motivation, while ordinary people have less chance to realize China by learning Chinese. However, the work of the Confucius Institute has been generally recognized by the public. In particular,China has imported a large number of high-quality Chinese teachers to Myanmar, which is very beneficial to the spread of China's positive image and has contributed to cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar. In terms of economy and product image, most of the Burmese recognize China's rapid economic development and start to build some well-known brands in the world, but they are not optimistic about the contribution of China's economic development to global economic development. At the same time, they generally keep a negative attitude on the quality of Chinese products. This indicates that the non-Chinese Burmese have limited knowledge of China's economy and product image, which has a certain relationship with the lack of relevant content in Chinese communication. It is necessary to improve Burmese people's cognition of China's economic and product image through the reform of language learning methods, contents and concepts,so as to enhance the understanding of Burmese people about China. This paper also discusses how the Chinese communication can be better integrated into the Burmese culture by analyzing the cultural attitudes and identity characteristics of the contemporary Burmese. Finally, the paper discusses how to establish a diversified image of China in Myanmar, and analyzes the important factors affecting the image creation of China in Myanmar,as well as the feasible strategies for shaping a new image of modern China. The research in this paper shows that the Chinese communication in Myanmar has a positive impact on the Chinese image cognition of the non-Chinese Burmese, but its influence is still weak.In the future, more efforts should be made to strengthen the spread of Chinese in Myanmar, organize various cultural exchange activities, improve the three-dimensional new media communication system and change the traditional Chinese concept of external propaganda and communication,so as to better play the role of language communication in promoting China's image.
