Through reading Sarah Saka’s works,we find that, unlike other eco-socialists,Sarah Saka’s eco-socialism theory is based on detailed empirical materials. Its core view is that whether it is traditional socialism or capitalism based on economic rationality,in essence,it is a modern variant of industrial society. The economic development model derived from the traditional socialism dominated by the planned model under the social and historical background at that time has been confronted with the contradiction between economic growth and environmental protection since its birth.Overemphasis has been placed on the deterioration of the ecological environment brought about by industrialization and the eventual emergence of the new class and the loss of social morality. It caused the collapse of Soviet socialism. In addition,Sarah Sarka criticized the capitalism based on free market from the perspective of ecology. He emphatically analyzed the illusion of the value concept of "ecological capitalism",which was derived from the capitalist system, and the realistic contradiction of his theoretical proposition. He thought that this kind of capitalism did not involve problems. The essence of the local adjustment program brings about the same industrial production mode under the "natural limit" state, and it will go to the "dead end" like traditional socialism. On the basis of the analysis of capitalism and traditional socialism,Sarah Saka put forward the theoretical assumption of transforming capitalist system and constructing ecological socialism. He advocated starting with the cultivation of "new culture" of eco-socialism,advocating "alternative progressive concept" and "new culture of simple life",conducting economic contraction and planned and orderly withdrawal, and on this basis "reconstructing" socialism to achieve sustainable goals. Thus,we can build an eco-socialist society in which people, nature and society coexist harmoniously and organically, and conform to the principle of ecological justice.Sarah Saka’s ecological criticism of traditional socialism and free market capitalism not only enriched Marx’s social critical theory, expanded the research horizon of Marx’s historical materialism ecological thought, but also inherited from ecological Marxism and revealed the capitalist system.Degree is the fundamental cause of ecological crisis, pointing out the injustice and unsustainability of the capitalist system. Moreover, starting from the current situation of socialism in China,he points out that China has the possibility of moving towards eco-socialism.It can be said that Sara Saka, from the perspective of ecological criticism, has strengthened our confidence in adhering to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In addition,Sarah Saka painted a beautiful picture of harmony between man and nature, man and man in an eco-socialist society from three aspects: moral and ethical choice, production adjustment choice and steady-state economic model choice, bringing a ray of light and hope to people living in a contradictory world of interpersonal apathy and opposition between subject and object. At the same time,it should be pointed out that his theoretical propositions are also worth discussing. His conception of eco-socialism has a great degree of Utopian color, which will inevitably lead to the dilemma that theory and practice can not be unified. But even so,his research on the relationship between man and nature, his ecological criticism of traditional socialism and capitalism, and his assumption of future ecological socialism are worthy of our deep thinking and research. Therefore, whether from the perspective of value or from the perspective of practice, the study of Sarah Saka’s ecological socialism has important theoretical and practical significance.
