Ben Agger is a famous sociology expert in Canada and one of the most important representatives in the field of "Ecological Marxism"."Ecological Marxism" was first proposed by Ben Agger in his book Introduction to Western Marxism.Theories of contemporary capitalist crisis theory, capitalist critical theory, socialist revolutionary theory, and conception of "Ecological socialism" are also the categories studied by Ben Agger.Marx’s dialectics and Frankfurt’s critical theory are the basis of Ben Agger’s ideology. This series of theories combined with Ben Agger’s own thoughts constitute a complete Ben Agger ecological Marxist theory.Ben Agger thinks that Marxism is only a potential ecological thought. It should ecologically reconstruct Marxism and reinterpret Marx’s crisis theory. He believes that alienated consumption leads to ecological crisis and ecological crisis will become the most capitalist. The main form of crisis is to replace the economic crisis. He believes that the bursting of expectations of material goods and material consumption will dissolve dissipated consumption— "the dialectics that expectation is shattered".He ecologically criticized capitalism and proposed the idea of constructing "ecological socialism." Ben Agger is still rich in works.Combining Marxist and Frankfurt’s critical theory with post-modernism,feminism and cultural critical theory,it profoundly analyzes the formation process, causes, and solutions of the capitalist ecological crisis. It is believed that "ecological socialism" is established through the control of irrational economic growth, the use of small-scale technology to liberate people and nature, and the use of non-centralized and non-violent models. This paper conducts a comprehensive and systematic study of Ben Agger’s ecological Marxist thought, analyzes the causes, essence, and solutions of the ecological crisis, and constructs ecological socialism. At the same time,it compares its ideas with those of other ecological Marxist scholars. An objective assessment of Ben Agger’s ideas is as follows:Chapter One Introduction.Firstly, the background and significance of Ben Agger’s ecological Marxist thought are discussed.New changes have taken place in capitalism. The ecological crisis has become more and more serious, and relevant theories have gradually improved. It is believed that the study of Ben Agger’s ecological Marxism thought is an objective requirement for promoting ecological Marxism research, and it is an intrinsic need to deepen the study of Western Marxism and an important way to promote Marxist theoretical innovation.Second,a systematic review of the current status of Ben Agger’s research at home and abroad was conducted. Finally, the research ideas and research methods as well as the innovations and deficiencies of the papers are described. The second chapter analyzes the realistic background and theoretical origins of Ben Agger’s "ecological Marxism".The world of capitalism at that time had developed rapidly in science and technology after the Second World War.Using science and technology as a means of developing resources provided the conditions for the accumulation of capital, thus causing ecological problems. The global ecological crisis has increasingly constrained the economy.development of.At the same time, green organizations and green movements aiming at "protecting the ecology and maintaining the harmonious development of man and nature" have been produced. And capitalism promotes the consumerism lifestyle through advertising and other media, inspiring people to feel unconscious about consumption.Marx thinks that nature precedes the existence of man.Man must practice under the premise of nature.Marcuse of the Frankfurt School believes that technology does not really liberate people’s needs and development, and generates false demand and then produces an ecological crisis;William Lay Sith believes that human control of nature has caused serious damage to nature;technology pessimism believes that technology leads to ecological crisis;ecology, systematic theory, and related theories of futurology provide theoretical support for Agger’s ecological Marxism. This part is not only the foundation for the third and fourth chapters, but also the theoretical basis for the full text.Chapter III Ben Agger’s theory of capitalist ecological crisis.First of all,it analyzes the causes of the capitalist ecological crisis, and considers that the root cause is the capitalist system itself, and the direct cause is "alienation of consumption".Alienated consumption is generated by alienated labor. The objective reason is the contradiction between the capitalist mode of production and the natural system;secondly,it explains the nature of the ecological crisis, and believes that the ecological crisis will replace the economic crisis and reconstruct Marx’s economic crisis theory. The ecological crisis will become a cancer of capitalism.Third, criticize capitalism from the criticism of human nature and race, criticism of industrial production and political system, and economic growth and ideological criticism. Finally,an effective way to explain the elimination of ecological crisis is to dissolve dissipated consumption."The steady-state economic model " and " small-scale technology " and carry out a revolution to establish ecological socialism. The fourth chapter Ben Agger’s theory of "ecological socialism".First,it proposes several models of ecological socialism and establishes ecological socialist economic models, consumption patterns, and institutional advantages. Then the combination of theory and practice can be achieved. The ecological crisis is actually the best opportunity to carry out the social system revolution, and ultimately achieve the goal of a non-alienated society.Analyze the characteristics of ecological socialism from the economic, political, and technological perspectives: the steady economic model of "not expanding or shrinking",the autonomy of workers,non-centralized,and non-bureaucratic ecological politics, the establishment of grass-roots democracy, and small-scale technological models for individuals Free practice. Finally, the ways to achieve "ecological socialism" include: restricting irrational economic growth, using science and technology to liberate people and nature, and using non-forced non-violent modes of change. The fifth chapter is the analysis of Ben Agger’s ecological Marxism. On the basis of an in-depth study of Marxist theory,Ben Agger analyzed the realities of capitalism, and put forward that demand theory, ecological crisis theory, and steady-state economic theory are the enrichment of Marxist theoretical results.Traditional ecology is a relationship between living organisms and plants and their living space.Ben Argel combined Marxist critical theory with economic crisis theory as a transcendence over traditional ecology. For the first time, ecology was proposed.Learning Marxism laid the foundation for this theory.Ben Agger combined socialism with the resolution of ecological crisis, and proposed the concept of alienation consumption, and reconstructed the concepts of production and consumption have practical significance for the development of socialism. But the steady-state economy put forward by Ben Agger is of utopian nature. He believes that the revolution through non-centralized and non-violent means has a distinct humanitarian color and overemphasizes the role of ecological crisis, and weakens the basic contradictions and class contradictions of capitalism.Deviation from Marx’s economic crisis theory has certain limitations. The sixth chapter is the realistic enlightenment of Ben Agger’s ecological Marxism. From the perspective of the theory of alienation consumption and the characteristics of "ecological socialism",we must first establish a "people-oriented" ecological value concept and an "ecological harmony between man and nature" in order to build a socialist ecological civilization, and adhere to the liberation of man and nature. As well as the individual’s free practice;Second, from the strengthening of the ecological concept of education,to promote a conservation-oriented way of life, strengthen the rational production of enterprises to establish a "green consumption" model; Finally, the superiority of the socialist system, adhere to the "green development concept" The economic development model, strengthen the government’s supervision of the ecological environment to improve the system construction of ecological civilization. Conclusion part: This article briefly summarizes the basic viewpoints and content of this article. From the aspects of construction, thought, system, methods, and functions,Ben Agger’s ecological Marxism has drawn a concise and clear science for the current social development. In conclusion, the ideal ecological Marxist vision is put forward and the future is prospected.
