Sustainable Development In Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark

The goal of UNESCO Global Geopark is to protect the geoheritage,education and promote the regional's sustainable development.Yimengshan UNESCO Global Geopark(UGGp)has been working on this goal since 2019 after it was approved by the UNESCO.Focusing on the nectarine which is the dominant product of Yimengshan UGGp,this paper constructs a theoretical framework after discussed the theory and practice of sustainable development in Yimengshan UGGp and carries out research which based on geological background,the main conclusions are as follows:The geochemical characteristics of rock-soil-nectarine were investigated.The quality of nectarines from weathered areas of three types of rock was evaluated by using the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and principal component analysis(PCA).In conclusion,the best nectarines come from the granite weathered zone.Using typical analysis and linear regression,the relationship of geochemical elements between rock-soil-nectarine was studied: 1)Due to the high potassium content of granite,the best nectarines are come from the granite weathered zone.The sodium in granite was negatively correlated with the nectarines' quality of this area;2)The content of calcium was positively correlated with the nectarines' quality in limestone weathered zone,and the content of calcium and iron in limestone has a certain influence on the quality of nectarines in this area.According to the above conclusions and the production standards of Mengyin Nectarine,four indexes of granite,p H,slope and organic matter were selected to plant the nectarine in a more suitable zone,which divided the existing nectarine production areas into nectarine zone,economic forest zone and reforestation zone.Through data collection and in-depth interviews,this paper puts forward four major problems that restrict the sustainable development of geopark: lack of laws in the geopark management,the system is unsound and the policy support is not enough;slow development of nectarine industry;the crisis in tourism development and lack of community engagement.Under the guidance of the theoretical framework of sustainable development of geoparks and the sharing principle,considering the geological background and the result of zoning,according to the requirements of tourism and community development,the sustainable development approaches of Yimengshan UGGp are put forward: 1)To develop nectarine industry,as well as lengthening the industrial chain and in granite weathered zone which is more suitable for nectarine planting;In the area of limestone and shale weathered zone where is not suitable for peach planting,ecological agriculture should be promoted and the distribution of agriculture and forestry should be rational.2)Try to strengthen the experiential tourism,to explore the cultural connotation,and to use marketing to enhance the value of the geo-product in some area with a slope greater than 25°.3)Settle down the labor force from land circulation and agricultural structural adjustment to strengthen the capacity building of community.Based on the geological background research on the geo-product--nectarines,this paper guides lengthening the agricultural industry chain,thus solving the labor problem,accelerating the engagement on communities,promoting tourism and economic development,increasing the sales of geo-product,and finally extending the brand of the geopark,thus forming a cycle.This study is of great significance of improving the theoretical framework of sustainable development of geoparks and guiding the practice of sustainable development of other geoparks.
