Impact Of Geoconservation And Geotourism On Yanqing UNESCO Global Geopark

Yanqing UNESCO Global Geopark is located in Yanqing District,northwestern Beijing,with precious geoheritages related to Yanshanian Movement,silicified woods,dinosaur footprints and karst landforms,natural resources like wetlands,and cultural resources like Badaling Great Wall and Guyaju.During its development,Yanqing UNESCO Global Geopark still faces many challenges,such as the easily-eroded geoheritage,and weaker geoconservation.In addition,and the mode of geotourism is simple,and involvement of local communities is needed to be enhanced.According to the analysis above,together with the of international cooperation project with Greece,this paper focuses on the geoconservation of silicified and dinosaur footprints based on the climatic and geological conditions of Yanqing and the international conservation experiences,proposes the countermeasure conservation techniques: for the silicified woods,this paper summarizes the methods as follows:data collection,mechanical and chemical cleaning,liquid cleaning,fossil fragments adhesion,liquid glue reinforcement,cement filling,basic color cement filling,aesthetic restoration,and finally water-proof agent covering.Through the methods above,the in situ silicified woods have been effectively conserved.(2)Dinosaur footprints: the locality of dinosaur footprints is in different situation.Through the pilot experiments,the dinosaur footprints are well protected with similar conservation steps,it is very important to use liquid glue to reinforce the footprint-bearing surface.However,the problems still exist,due to the dinosaur footprints preserve on a steep slope,the previous weathering and erosion are very serious,the surface tends to be unstable.For that,the conservation work applies cement sealing and water-proof covering on the eroded broken sections,its long-term protected effect will be monitored in future.Through the analysis on the present situation of the Geopark management,this paper proposes the following suggestions on simple geotourism mode and the weaker local community involvement:(1)strengthening the product design,upgrading geotourism products,and designing different tourist routes covering scientific popularization,sightseeing and exercising themes;(2)promoting tourism services,strengthening the training of volunteer service teams,and improving the professional quality of geopark staff through the exchanges,cooperation and conference training with the sister geoparks;(3)enhancing industrial integration,combining with the advantages of cultural and agricultural industries,incorporating geological elements in cultural products and agricultural products;(4)enhancing public participation,building Yanqing's “geofamily” brand which promotes the quality of residents and brings tangible economic benefits to the residents.In conclusion,this paper introduces the concept of geoconservation to China,summarizes a set of geoconservation methods which are suitable for the climatic and geological conditions in Yanqing Geopark,and explores the relationship between geoconservation and sustainable development in geoparks.The paper puts forward a geotourism model including comprehensive scientific popularization tourism products,high quality interpretation services,multiple industrial advantage combination and local folk brand,which provides meaningful reference to healthy development for the geopark.
