Study On Sustainable Development Of Chaoyang Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark Of China

Chaoyang Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the center of Chaoyang city,which is composed of Shangheshou,Sihetun,Kazuo and Lingyuan Scenic Areas,covering an area of 2808.4 square kilometers.Chaoyang National Geopark was approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources in 2004.Chaoyang is the core origin of the Jehol biota,with a lot of precious fossils.Geoheritage resources in the Geopark are rich in type and high in scientific value.The numerous fossils are of international significance.What's more,the geoheritage resources are well preserved,and easy to carry out scientific research and science popularization activities.Above all,the Geopark has high comprehensive value.Now,Chaoyang National Geopark is making efforts to apply for Chaoyang UNESCO Global Geopark based on its advantages.Chaoyang National Geopark has already achieved results on protecting the important geoheritage,ecological environment and cultural landscapes.But it has a series of problems that hinder its sustainable development.Based on the field investigation and data collection in the Chaoyang Geopark,this paper makes a statistics and classification of geological heritage and cultural resources,and investigates the current protection and utilization of the geological and cultural resources.It is considered that there are a series of problems in the Chaoyang Geopark's sustainable development.For examples,the orginal burial of some fossils was destroyed,serious illegal fossil excavation,fossil market and so on.Based on the investigations above and geopark ideas,aiming at the existing problems in the Chaoyang Geopark,this thesis puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and the suggestions on Chaoyang Geopark's sustainable development.The countermeasures include carrying out the geopark building planning,strengthening the professional management of geopark,perfecting geopark's information construction,strengthening exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign geoparks,guiding the villagers to protect the geological heritage and stopping the fossil market.The proposed countermeasures will provide helpful reference for effective geoheritage protection,wisely and reasonably resources utilization and realizing sustainable development in the Chaoyang Geopark.
