Study On The "Three Rural Issues" News Report In The Context Of The Social Transformation

Characterized in Marketization, urbanization, industrialization as well as globalization, the social transformation, is the most magnificent and influential era picture in contemporary China."Three Rural Issues" arising during this period,in a sense, is either an important representation in the process of this social transformation, or the key determinant of the success for the transformation in China. Therefore, the Chinese government adheres to taking the "three rural" issue as a top priority in30years of the Reform and Opening up, for these issues are the strong foundation of our nation and serve for the stability and wealth of the society. Since2004, the government document has locked the "three rural issues" for11years,which has laid a good policy foundation to solve the "three rural issues".However, in recent years, despite the great importance of "three rural" work, the domestic media's reports on "three rural issues" has shown a lot of problems in quality and quantities. Therefore, in the context of the transformation of our society, how to improve and optimize the "three rural" report, and how to guide and create public opinion atmosphere for the whole community to pay attention to and focus on the "three rural" work has become a bounden duty for the media and its practitioners as well as an unavoidable important topic for the Journalism scholars.Based on this,in the context of China's social transformation, this thesis,focusing on the "three rural" news reports by Xinhua News Agency, aimed at analysing the journalistic practice and the media mirror in the new era for Xinhua News Agency, trying to find the problems and causes of the "three rural" reports. After a case analysis, the dissertation proposes its suggestion and countermeasure in the improvement and optimization of the "three rural" news report.The study is divided into five parts, the first part is an introduction, which describes the background and significance of the study, the framework and methods for the research, and the related literature review conducted.The second part verifies the concept and characteristics of China's social transformation and its impact on the media, in the meantime,discusses the content and importance of the "three rural" issues,clarifies the relationship between the social transformation and the reports on "three rural issues". Meanwhile,this dissertation also addresses the research significance of the "three rural" reports in the context of China's social transformation.The third part is a case study, through a statistics analysis of more than1,000pieces of randomly selected "San Nong" related news, reported by Xinhua News Agency,this study analyzed the proportion and sources of the reports as well as the tones and themes of the news, in addition, made a conclusion of the features of the " three rural issues" reports.The fourth part points out the problems and the reasons for the "three rural issues" reports in the current context of social transformation, especially the significant impact of the social transformation on the media's reports. The dissertation argues that despite of the great achievements the media has made on the"three rural issues" reports, there's still a lack of farmer's discourse power and the monitoring of public opinion, a tendency to modelization of the related reports,etc.The reason for the above problems is the impact of social transformation on the internal and the external environment of the media.The fifth part is about the countermeasures.This study attempts to propose solutions and suggestions in two aspects for the improvement of the "three rural issues" reports. On the one hand, to optimize the external environment from the institutional arrangements and cultural construction for the "three rural issues" reports,on the other hand, to improve the "three rural" reports followed by the innovation of concepts, contents and forms.
