Modern society is developing rapidly with constant reforms and progress.Social modernization is an overall and revolutionary process which is also an ever-changing historical process with harmonious development.It is not an independent development of a certain system,but an overall one,especially that of human modernization.The development of human modernization is not only the core of social modernization,but also the precondition,the driving force and the highest goal of social modernization.As a subsystem of society,education can achieve its goal of cultivating talents only when it is in agreement with social modernization.Thus,it can integrate profoundly with social modernization and goes side by side with it harmoniously,which is true of college moral education,an important part of education.In the process of social modernization,because of the changes in social values and moral values and the social requirement for talents with overall qualities,traditional moral education in colleges and universities are not fit for the new situation and reforms are needed to adjust to the changes in social modernization by changing itself actively,thus achieving modernization in college moral education.The research is based on Marxist theories and is combined with research requirements.The theories employed here are the combination of theories with practice,system analysis,case analysis,comparative method,observational method,interviewing method,and so on.The research focuses on the improvement of timeliness and ways to modernize college moral education.It has two starting points: theoretical development of college moral education in the respective of modernization;the construction of practice system of college moral education.By concluding the research at home and abroad and analyzing the structure and content of moral education development,the thesis puts forward a creative idea of combining five major elements,that is,concepts,main body,content,tools and surroundings to form a framework for the research and provides an explanation for their connotation,functions and logical relations.It concludes the four major features of college moral education: target characteristics,development characteristics,practice characteristics and process characteristics.Thethesis then focuses on theoretical support for college moral education and provides a profound research on related theories by investigating the specialty of college moral education on the basis of Marxist human theory,related theories of modernization and the growth characteristics of college students.It also deals with the development of moral modernization in colleges and universities at home and abroad and makes a comparison between the two.Based on Marxist practice theory,it gives a systematic analysis of the developing history of moral education in China,especially that in critical historical periods and draws on the experience of western countries actively to further analyze its modernization.Then,it concludes the inner rules for reforms and development of college moral education.It then gives a profound analysis of its achievements,existing problems and limiting elements and provides targeted and practical supports for constructing a practice system.Targeting on the kinds of talents to be cultivated,ways to do so and the performers,the research makes it clear to stick to three rules: functional rule,practical rule and directional rule and puts forward a concrete operating scheme for practice system in the respective of concepts,main body,content,tools and surroundings,both at a micro level and a macro level.Because the modernization of college moral education is a constantly developing process,the research takes its nature as a starting point,combines its specialty with the modernization of the students' personalities,defines its composing elements and concludes its characteristics,aiming to theoretically improve college moral education.Meanwhile,because the modernization of moral education is a complicated and systematic process,based on Marxist practice theory and former practice experience,the research takes the moral improvement of the students as a starting point and insists on being temporary and practical in order to explore the organic link of its major elements,to construct its practice pattern in a new era,to strengthen its pertinence and timeliness and to fit for the individual development of the college students.
