With the development of economy and society, expanses instrumental rationality and despises value rationality. The material life is increasingly rich, but its spiritual life is more and more deficient. Economy advance triumphantly, While Moral whisper of landslide. The confusion of belief, the subversion of value, the lack of good faith, the decadent of spirit, is frustrating people all the time. Rousseau said,’The progress of the society will awaken the interest of the individual and that would suffocate the humanity inside of him’. More and more power rent-seeking, corruption, moral turpitude and so on, is verifying the questioned judgment.People often accustomed to a certain person or a certain aspect of the problems attributed to’social impact’. The society really affect us, we also affect the society. University as an education institution, passively accepts the negative influence of society, or takes the initiative to actively affect the society? It is not only a question that universities should consider, but a problem as a’social moral barometer’ of university President, so the president needs to think deeply. In fact, the University has long been axiomatic function determines the university community is not’follow suit’, but should be society’s ’leader’. The university must be an institution that is able to play a leading role to the society, have a positive impact on the society. If we want to make university be such organization, the university president should bring moral leadership into force for moral purpose, to realize the goal of moral. The study is started in such a commitment:Maybe the reform we work with efforts on should be from a moral perspective focusing on better and more comprehensive understanding and enhance the university President’s personality and leadership practices.The basic framework of the study:Firstly, from society background, the study analyzes the influence of social environment on university, and the moral situation of university itself.Secondly, the study deeply analyzes the connotation of moral and leadership from the dimension of ethics, redefines ’moral leadership’, and then gets the definition’moral leadership of university president’ for the first time. The study also analyzes the connotation and characteristics of ’moral leadership of university president’ in this part.Thirdly, the study expounds the necessity, importance and urgency of moral leadership of university president from the aspects of the nature and characteristics of university, the moral attributes of the university organization, university’s moral mission, the deviation of university from morality and so on.Fourthly, the study analyzes theoretical basis of moral leadership of university president from the aspects on:ancient Ethocracy ideas and governance process, the contemporary theory of ’ruling country with virtue’, the selection and appointment of cadres in our country, ethical theory abroad, moral leadership theory of school, something are continuously adhered to in changes of leadership theory, the inevitable requirement of domestic and foreign university presidents ’qualifications, and so on.Fifthly, the study analyzes the premise of university President to implement moral leadership, and the ’intrinsic’ and ’extrinsic’ influence factors of implementing moral leadership on university president.Lastly, the study puts forward safeguard measures of university President implementing moral leadership.Moral leadership research on university presidents is not for showing the shortcomings.
