A Study On The Transformation Of Metaphor In Russian-Chinese Full Translation

This dissertation focuses on a very common phenomenon in translation—translation of metaphor.Based on the analysis of Russian-Chinese corpus on metaphor,this research into metaphor translation is conducted by means of combining theory withpractice,macro study with micro study,and inductive method with deductive method.Theories of thinking science,cognitive psychology,and cognitive linguistics are adopted in this study as well.The dissertation begins with a discussion of the following topics:connotative and denotative meanings of metaphor,full translation's concept,unit and pivot as well as the soul of the transformation in full translation,the cognitive turn in translation study,the translation of conceptual metaphor and the soul of metaphor translation.On this basis,utilizing theories of thinking science,the essence of the mechanism of transformation of metaphor in full translation is explored in-depth---content transformation as the focus and form conversion as the supplement,followed by discussions on the interactions among conceptual analogy,verdict and inference in the transformation of metaphor in thinking in full translation under the comprehension mechanism of "point,line and plane" in source language,the transformative mechanism of interlingual "line,plane and volume",and the expressive mechanism of "point,line,plane and non-metaphor" in target language,which is both the key and difficult point of the whole dissertation as well as a novel study to date.On the basis of the transformative mechanism of thinking metaphor in Russian-Chinese full translation and form conversion supplemented by content transformation,strategies and methods of transformation of metaphor translation are explored.Factors affecting the transformative mechanism and methods of metaphor in Russian-Chinese full translation consist mainly of principal factors,contextual factors and cultural factors,the detailed analysis of which will facilitate the comprehension of the transformative process of metaphor in Russian-Chinese full translation.With its unique transformative mechanism and methods,the study on the transformation of metaphor in Russian-Chinese full translation is a characteristic study in translatology that supplements and completes current translation theory research.
