The Arrangement Of Wu-Yue Inscriptions And And Study On Related Issues

Inscriptions of Wu-Yue were characters engraved on the bronzes and jades by Wu and Yue during the Eastern-Zhou Dynasty.This dissertation collects all the published inscriptions of Wu-Yue.Including 91 Wu inscriptions,240 Yue inscriptions(100 stone inscriptions are included),and 37 suspectable ones.Therefor we can make a further research and conclusion of Wu-Yue Inscriptions on base of this.The interpretation of Wu and Yue Kings’ names has always been the hot issue among historical and linguistic research.In this dissertation,we review the main opinions and also present our own ones on base of them.Wu-Yue Inscriptions mainly exist from the middle of Chun-qiu to Zhan-guo Period,which exactly is the critical period when the phenomenon “pronunciations distinct and writings differ” occur and mature.At the same time,we compare Wu-Yue inscriptions with other inscriptions from writing and usage perspectives.So we can find the relationship between them.We also discuss the role Wu-Yue inscriptions plays during the transformation of ancient Chinese charactersThis dissertation consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,in which we introduce the former collections and studies of Wu-Yue inscriptions,point out their deficiencies and the things we should pay attention to during our following study.The second part is the catalogue and interpretations of Wu-Yue inscriptions,The catalogue part includes the unearthed site,the place they are kept,the size and weight,the former records,the annotation,the Photograph,the rubbing and the copy.The interpretations part contents the latest and most convictive achievements,and puts forward our own opinion on some issues.The third part is the study on the names of Wu and Yue Kings.In this part,we find the corresponding relationship between the names in unearthed and traditional literatures,on base of which we conclude the structure and pronunciation rules of the names.The last part is the study on Wu-Yue inscriptions,which include two parallel tables.The first table is the comparison between Wu and Yue characters,the second is the comparison between Wu-Yue inscriptions and other inscriptions.
