The Imitating And Creation Experience Of Bird And Insect Seal Carving

Born in the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, bird and insect seal carving flourished in Han Dynasty, then it fading, until modern times, due to its abundant information and the development of related research, bird and insect seal carving has come into view, it’s sudden but inevitable. This article is a conclusion for the three years’study and creation on bird and insect seal carving. It expounds from four aspects of bird and insect seal carving:the development, the carving skills, the practice of imitating and creation and some questions emerging during the practice.When it emerging, the bird and insect seal script was mainly seen on bronze weapons and sacrificial vessels. This decorative script contains the image of birds, animals, insects, fish and other abstract figures. The bird and insect seal script was first used for seal carving in Qin Dynasty and flourished in Han Dynasty. In Han Dynasty, bird and insect seal carving included every style of seal carving.
