Objective:Regarding Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion as the research subject,this paper summarized the author's academic achievements,and further explored the author's academic ideas through in-depth study of the author and version of the book in order to carrying out innovative reforms,guiding clinical practice and meeting the needs of modern society and the development of medicine on the basis of inheriting the essence of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion medicine.Methods:Using the method of traditional Chinese medical literature,this thesis focused on several aspects such as the author of Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion and reasons of its compiling,the edition circulation system,the characteristics of quoted books and citation,academic contribution and academic ideas,academic influence and evaluation and so on.Conclusion:Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion was compiled by Wang Zhizhong and various factors influenced its formation.Its edition circulation system was relatively monotonic and edition quality was rather spotty;this book was rich in reference and saved some of the content of the scattered and disappeared ancient books.And meanwhile this thesis summarized the academic contribution,academic ideas,academic influence and evaluation about Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion.Prospect:The social and historical background of the Song Dynasty attaching great importance to the medical development and as a variety of available conditions and the author's written the purpose and motivation altogether affected the formation of Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion.Most of the existing editions of Nourishing Life with Acupuncture and Moxibustion come from the TianLi edition,the shadow edition of the Yuan edition and the edition of Si Ku Quan Shu are better editions.The citation of this book has an important value for compiling the scattered and disappeared ancient books and distinguishing the academic and examining the mirror source.Wang Zhizhong had made several contributions such as the textual criticism of acupoints,improvement the point selection method,and development of moxibustion therapy.He held the ideas of flexible treatment based on syndrome differentiation and the acupuncture and moxibustion should select reaction points of diseas.He also didn't cling to the acupuncture taboo and attached great importance to health cultivation and preventive treatment of disease through acupuncture and moxibustion.
