Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing, short for Tongrenjing or Tongren, plays an important role during the development of the science of acupuncture & moxibustion. Its publication greatly promoted development of the science of acupuncture &. moxibustion in the history. It draws acupuncture & moxibustion doctors' attention through ages. However, there is not enough study on it, which is not suited to the trend of international communication of acupuncture & moxibustion. Therefore, it is essential to make further exploration, textual research, review, analysis and study.From the point of view of literature exploration, we applied differentiated scientific research methods to make a textual research on the author's name, time of life and contribution. In addition, we discussed publication background of Tongrenjing on the basis of society, politics and culture of North Song Dynasty. This contributes to deeply understand the academic achievement of this book.At the same time, we, on the basis of research findings of such scholars as Mr. Ma Jixing, rearranged the book's edition system through making a deep investigation on ancient classic literatures about bibliography as well as modern novel achievements. Furthermore, the similarities and differences among the major edition system were checked and verified. This provided a good reference material for learning and researching to the circle of acupuncture & moxibustion and the whole medical system.Tongrenjing is of great value not only in science of acu-points and therapy,but in anatomy and education. But it, as an acupuncture & moxibustion book, reflected its major academic achievement in acupuncture & moxibustion science. For this reason, this study, based on other scholars' achievements, was to discuss the following five academic achievements of channel-tropism of acu-points, acu-points selecting methods, indication of acu-points, contraindication of acupuncture & moxibustion and case of acupuncture.Through textual research, review, analysis and discussion on Tongrenjing, we intended to clarify the problems concerned, to provide circle of acupuncture & moxibustion and medical system more scientific and reliable reference and to contribute to education and scientific research of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, clinical application and propagation of acupuncture & moxibustion.
