The Study On Economic Efficiency Of Urbanization Spatial Structure In China

Based on the common view that agglomeration economies and economies of scale canraise labor productivity, western scholars analyse the relationship between regional spatialstructure and economic effect from the point of view of population agglomeration, they thinkthat population agglomeration could also improve labor productivity thus make the efficiencyof spatial structure become a research hotspot. This article try to answer the question, whattype space organization more efficiency is, in stage of development of provincial administrativeregion in China by discussing the relationship between urbanization spatial structure andeconomic efficiency of Chinese provincial level administrative area from the point ofagglomeration economy (agglomeration externalities) and urbanization economic externalities.We choose the index system which includes concentricity, distribution degree, space compactdegrees, network access degrees, and the premier city scale as a measure of urbanizationspatial structure, meanwhile, choose labor productivity, the degree of economic correlationand ratioofinvestmenttooutput as a measure of regional economic effect. Try to build theframework and analyze the mechanism by using OLS (least square method) and TSLS (twostages the least square method) and other statistical methods. The concrete content includesthe following three parts:The first part includes the first chapter and the second chapter. First of all, clear theresearch background, the significance and illustrate the data that are involved in thecalculation. Second, define the connotation of urbanization spatial structure and economiceffect. The concept of urbanization spatial structure in this paper is space agglomerationdegree and form which is engendered by spacial interaction of social economic object in theregion has been urbanization (regionalhubcity). The general concept of economic effect is aintegrated judgment of regional economic efficiency, such as regional economic productionefficiency, the degree of region internal economic relevance, the regional economicdevelopment potential. The narrow concept of economic effect is seems to be agglomerativeeconomies of region, which the space agglomeration of production factors and productionaction have an effect on economic efficiency in regional internal. The main emphasis of thisresearch is the impact of spatial structure factor and its change on economic effect whichincludes the population density, population distribution, population size in urbanized area.Finally, combed the basic theories and literature review, summarize the basic features ofurbanization spatial structure, clear the connotation distinction and emphasis of agglomerationeconomy and urbanization economic externalities in geography and economics.The second part includes the third chapter and the fourth chapter, namely make multidimensional quantitative measure and characteristic analysis for the spatial structureindexes and economic effect indexes. Big provincial difference and different tendency are thespatial and temporal evolution characteristics of spatial structure indexes, besides, spacestructure may be influenced by the natural condition to some extent, and the cluster degree ismuch higher and faster in developed provinces; Single center agglomeration is the main modeof spatial structure in province area. Moreover, the spatial development stage lags behindeconomic development stage. As to the indexes of economic effect, the law of each indexdiffers from spacetime, the speed of labor productivity is faster than the economicdevelopment.The third part includes chapter5and chapter6. It probes into the relationship and actionmechanism that spatial structure effect on the economic effect. The statistics show that singlecenter could improve economic effect, but it fades with economic growth; the scale of primatecity influences the relationship among distribution degree, network access degrees andeconomic effect; the effect space compact degrees on economic effect proves the existence ofexternalities; at the last, there is endogeneity between spatial structure and economic effect.This article tries to analyze how spatial structures effects on economic effect, and constructthe forward and backward linkage between them to break the Black box mechanism, throughchoosing the distribution indexes of social economic factors such as economic density,population density, employment density and traffic density. Eventually comes to theconclusion that economic density is the core factors that spatial structure effects on economiceffect.
