Simulation of train operation process is a multi-disciplinary issue, aiming at simulating the actural train movement at the micro level using computer simulation technique. Simulation of train operation process enables calculation of minimum running time in sections, checking of train braking ability and optimization of timetable, therefore it plays an important role in railway location design, railway renovation and train operation. After years of studies and experiments, simulation of train operation process has got a lot of achievements in both theoretical research and practical application. Nevertheless, existing researches are suitable for conventional railways and heavy haul railways, but not for high-speed railway, which is different in rail lines condition, signal system, train properties and train control method from the other two. With detailed analyzing and taking advantages of the previous studies, this paper proposes simulation theory and method of China high-speed train operation process, adequately considering high-speed railway characters. Furthermore, a simulation system of high-speed train operation progress is developed using that theory and method. The main works and innovations are as follows:(1) This paper introduces definition, classification and function of high-speed train operation simulation. By comparing Bezier curve and train characteristic curve, it is found that Bezier curve can well fit train characteristic curve. Consequently a solution method to train characteristic curve is achieved based on Bezier function.(2) This paper briefly introduces main components of traction power supply system of high-speed railway, as well as basic method for calculating traction power supply. In order to save time of modeling and calculating, a new model of traction power supply with combination of dynamic and static is set up. Method of calculating large scale plural sparse matrix is designed, which provides a foundation for integrating simulation approach to high-speed train operation process based on global resource constraints.(3) According to characteristic of high-speed rail lines, a tree-like model with tri-layer node network is built to describe both micro and macro elements of rail line. Due to influence to train movement caused by line characteristic in station, stations in this model are no longer treated as points. Considering the scatted driving force and evenly distributed mass of high-speed train, high-speed train is described using a cord-like model. This model ensures the simulation accuracy and speed of high-speed train in transitional points of line characteristics, such as transitional points of gradient and curve.(4) The paper analyzes simulation theory of single high-speed train, provides control strategies in actual operation, and discusses basic principles in train operation progress. High running speed and long braking distance of high-speed train easily leads to over speed in train operation simulation. So a simulation algorithm of high-speed train based on pre-deduction is proposed to avoid over speed in simulation.(5) Train tracking model is structured under commonly used blocking system. In terms of this model combining with elasticity pre-deduction algorithm, simulation algorithm to high-speed train operation process based on global resource constraints is built intending for improving simulation accuracy of train tracking process.(6) In addition to analyzing the shortage and effect of train group simulation caused by lack of power supply resources constraints, this paper studies the feasibility of train group simulation based on global resource constraints. Approximate dynamic planning method is adopted in modeling and solving the simulation problem, and successfully avoids "dimension disaster" when optimizing train control process.(7) Finally, a simulation system of high-speed train operation is designed in the light of simulation base of train operation, traction power supply, and simulation algorithm of single high-speed train operation process, simulation method of high-speed train tracking and train group simulation method based on train timetable. This system is established using c#4.0technique and can simulate train operation process based on train timetable.
