Cervical Spondylosis of Vertebrals Artery Type (CSA) was common and multipledissease in middle and old ages people. The main clinical symptoms were giddiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, sudden syncope and so on. Recently, with the changes of lifestyle and social ages, the morbidity of CSA was significant increasing and had youngertrendcy. Since 1926, Barre and Lieou mentioned the disease, there were a matter of debatesregarding its pathogenesis and diagnosis. The paper reviewed a lot of reference of CSA on Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and westen Medicine. Accoding to TCM theory, the disease belonged to Giddiness,Headache, Cervicobrachial syndrome. The pathogenesis was releated to wind, pathogenicfire, phlegm, asthenia and blood stasis. It divided into five styles. (1)The excessive rised ofliver-Yang; (2)Phlegm and dampness stagnation;(3) Deficiency of QI and Blood; (4)Thedeficiency of Renal essence;(5)Blood stasis obstructed the Channels and Collaterals.Phlegm-dampness stagnation was the common styles.Regarding treatment, there were operation and none-operation methods. Only 1%patients needed operation. Comparing with western medicine, TCM usually adoptedChinese herbs, traction, massage, acupuncture and moxibustion, catgut implantation atacupuncture point and acupotomy to treat CSA. According to clinical reports, most of thesetreatment results were better. Controversially, most of these treatmental results were short ofscientifical designs, strict placeboes contrast, system evaluations. It was most important fororthopedist to reinforce scientifical research and find a best treatment method to cure CSAaccording to above reasons.Zhuiyunning Formula was the experiential formula of my supervisor, ProfessorrHuang Guichen. The Formula had better treatment results on Phlegm-Dampness stagnationof CSA after many years of clinical summary. The research objective was objective toevaluate the treatment results of Zhuiytmning Formula releating to Phlegm-Dampnessstagnation of CSA through clinical and experiments and study the mechanism of theFormula. Research methods: Clinical research based on western medicine diagnosisstandard and TCM diagnosis standard. 40 patients of CSA were grouped randomly into theZhuiyunning Formula treatment group and Control group. Results: The treatment group was better than control group. The treatment group was significantly different from that inthe Control group(statistical analysis p<0.05). Conclusions: Zhuiyunning Formula canameliorated patients’ clinical syndrom and symptom of Phlegm-Dampness stagnation ofCSA. There were better treatment results. The treatment mechanism of the Formula was toimprove microcirculation state, remove bloodshort and edema, ameliorate blood circulation.
