Objective: Through the research of dimensions and indices of influencing factors andcomposing factors of learning hospital, this paper helped managers to achieve thetransformation from theory into practice in the process of construction of learning hospital, which helpd the theory of learning hospital to truly implement of specific work; At the sametime, this paper introduced indices of subjective performance, and discussed the relationshipamong influencing factors, composing factors and performance in order to clear themechanisms of learning hospital, which helpd the managers to establish confidence anddetermination during the construction of learning hospital; With this tool, it assessed the wholelearning hospitals, and compared hospitals of different levels, different nature, different typesto find out the gap and problems in order to provide scientific basis for the managers. Methods: Through semi-structured interview, this paper had extracted the dimensionsand indices of influencing factors and composing factors of learning hospital; Through Delphimethod, it determined the dimensions and indices of influencing factors, composing factorsand performance factors of learning hospital; Through questionnaire survey, it collected datafor analysis on reliability and validity; Based on literature review, the assumptions of therelationship between composing factors and performance, and the relationship amonginfluencing factors, composing factors and performance had been proposed. The structuralequation modeling had been introduced to conduct regression analysis. The descriptivestatistical analysis had been used to evaluate the present situation of learning hospitals. Theindependent-samples T test had been conducted to compare the distances of those learninghospitals of different features, types and levels. Results: Based on the semi-structured interview, this paper had extracted influencingfactors of learning hospital into four dimensions, namely hospital culture, hospital structure, common vision and hospital environment. It had consisted of14indices. The composingfactors had included team study and cooperation, commitment and support, knowledgetransfer mechanism and strategic leadership. There were a total of18indices in this regard.Through two rounds of Delphi method, this paper had classified influencing factors oflearning hospital into three dimensions, namely hospital culture, hospital structure andexternal social environment,11indices of questioned, giving chance to talents, rules andregulations, personnel selection and competition mechanism, clear goals and vision, flatstructure, no boundary among departments, service demand, competition environment, industry changes, community cooperation. The composing factors had included4dimensionsof team study and cooperation, commitment and support, system of acquiring and sharingstudy experience as well as strategic leadership,20indices of self-transcendence, knowledgeopening, teamwork, knowledge update, reflection, frank atmosphere, creating opportunitiesfor continuous learning, leaders commitment, training and investment, test, remonstrance, places for learning, information technology, academic exchanges, leaders supports, leadersshare, two-way communication, leaders learning, leaders values, various trainings.Performances could be categorized as four dimensions of financial dimension, customerdimension, internal operation and procedure as well as study and growth dimension,10indices of Income, cost, market share, demand reaction, service object satisfaction, averagework efficiency, average in-patient days, hold academic activities, take part in academicconferences, annual academic papers or programs per year. This paper had established and verified the relationship model for each dimensionbetween influencing factors and composing factors. In addition, the correlation modelcovering influencing factors, composing factors and performance factors had also been built.According to the research, there was no statistical significance for the improvement ofhospital financial performance, internal operation and procedure through team study andcooperation. The system of acquiring and sharing study experience was not statistically related to the dimension of study and growth. Each dimension of other factors was positivelyrelated to the performance, which meant that hospital learning was closely connected withperformance. Besides that, the culture, structure and external social environment of learninghospital had positive effects on composing factors. The composing factors were closelyrelated to performance factors, indicating close connections among three of them. This study designed a self-questionnaire of learning hospital. Sampling had beenconducted among those senior and middle-level managers of learning hospitals so as to makean overall analysis on the current situation of learning hospitals. Those employees had a highevaluation about influencing factors and composing factors of learning hospital. In contrast, the system of hospital structure as well as the system of acquiring and sharing studyexperience still remained to be improved. The independent-samples T test analysis for thosehospitals of different features, types and levels had been made. It was found that there was aremarkable distinction between public hospital and private hospital in terms of influencingfactors and composing factors. Generally speaking, the public hospital had outperformed theprivate hospital. There was no obvious difference between the level-3hospital, level-2hospital, comprehensive hospital and special hospital in terms of influencing factors, whichwas the otherwise for the composing factors. More specifically, the level-3hospital hadoutperformed the level-2hospital. The comprehensive hospital was also better than specialhospital in this regard. Conclusion: Through a variety of statistical methods, this research built questionnaire oflearning hospital, whose dimensions and indices of influencing factors and composing factorswere scientific and operative, and provided tools and methods for hospital managers. Bydemonstrating the relations between dimensions of composing factors and performance, therelations among influencing factors, composing factors and performance factors, it had beenfound that they had strong and positive connections, which supplied statistical support formanagers to construct learning hospitals.
