ObjectiveTo develop the questionnaire about nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction and fill in the lack of research tools about nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction;To explore the level of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction and its influencing factors of 3-class general hospital in Zhengzhou,and to provide certain references about the formulation of performance appraisal systems for nursing managers.MethodsThe Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 516 stepping selectded nurses in three 3-class general hospitals in Zhengzhou in November to December2015. The questionnaire of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction was used to measure the level of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction. Epidata(version 3.1)software was used to record the datas by two people,SPSS(version 17.0) software was used for statistic description and statistic analysis.Results1. Questionnaire survey was conducted among 535 nurses who were met the accepting criteria.535 questionnaires were collected, and 19 questionnaires which were invalid were got rid of, a total of 516 valid questionnaires were collected, so theeffective collect rate was 96.45%.2. The average score of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction was(3.56 ±0.65),totally in midlevel.Seven dimensions were ordered according to the average,the highest score is the performance appraisal satisfaction of aims achieved,the lowest mark is the performance appraisal satisfaction on the process and the participation.Each item was ordered according to the average, and the top five items were stem14 :I think the overall quality of nursing staff has been improved according to performance appraisal; item 1: I have a basic understanding of our hospital’s performance appraisal system for nursing staff; item 16: I think the working enthusiasm of nursing staff has been improved according to performance appraisal;item 5: I think the nursing quality has been improved according to performance appraisal; item 23: I think the perid of performance appraisal for nursing staff is reasonable.The after five items were item 10: the hospital will adopt my recommendations on performance appraisal after evaluation; item 8: I once participated in the evaluation of superior leadership; item 26: I think equal pay for equal work and optimal blue-chip reward has been realized according to performance appraisal;item 19: I can communicated with the superior leadership in entire course of performance appraisal; item 13: I think the opportunities for training and further education of nursing staff are related to the results of performance appraisal.3. Comparing of performance appraisal satisfaction of the nursing staff with different demographic characteristics, there were no significant statistically difference between the performance appraisal satisfaction of nueses with different gender, age,marital status, education background, weekly working hours.But there were significant statistically difference between the performance appraisal satisfaction of nueses with different working years, professional qualifications, job position, nature of employment, night shift situation and departments.Conclusion1. The level of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction of 3-class general hospital in Zhengzhou needs to be improved.2. The influencing factors of nurses’ performance appraisal satisfaction are:working years, professional title, job position, nature of employment, night shift situation,working unit, the communication of performance evaluation and the application of performance appraisal results.
