Objective:Cerebrovascular disease has become the leading cause of disability and death in China, and its incidence is increasing year by year. Cerebral ischemic stroke accounts about60%-80%of stroke without effective treatments. This paper aims to investigate the current status of awareness, treatment, and control rate of risk factors associated with cerebral ischemic stroke recurrence in Wuhan city. Methods:A cluster sampling approach was applied to collect1716retired employees of Wuhan Iron&Steel Company who participated in medical examinations from Dec.2008to Feb.2009, and128cerebral ischemic stroke patients were selected out of them as subjects. Investigated their basic information, habits, medical history and medicine history retrospectively, and recorded their medical examination results, including blood pressure, serum triglyceride, total cholesterol and fasting blood glucose. Analyse the data with statistical software SPSS17.0, and described the results with x-±s or constituent ratio.Results1. Subjects distribution:128cerebral ischemic stroke patients were selected out of1716people as subjects (7.46%),71of them were male(55.47%), and the other57were female(44.53%). The yongest of them was50years old, and the oldest was86.Average age of subjects was (67.1±7.99) years old.2. Tobacco smoking:59.38%of subjects never smoked,24.22%were still smoking, and16.41%of them had been quit smoking.52patients in total had smoking history, and21had quit (40.38%).3. Alcohol comsumption:68.75%of subjects didn’t have alcohol consumption history,12.5%were still drinking alcohol, and18.75%of them had been quit drinking alcohol.40patients had alcohol consumption history, and24had quit (60%).4. Obesity:2patients (1.56%) had light body weight,51patients (39.85%) had normal body weight,59patients (46.09%) were overweight, and16(12.5%) had obesity. 5. Sports:29patients (22.66%) had never take exercises,49patients (38.28%) took exercises regularly, and50patients (39.06%) took exercises irregularly.6. Hypertension:116patients in total had hypertension, and84of them had abnormal blood pressure in their medical examinations, while the other32patients took antihypertension drugs with normal blood pressure in their medical examinations. And19patients with abnormal blood pressure without awareness of hypertension. The rate of awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension were83.62%,74.14%,27.59%, repectively.7. Dyslipidemia:70patients had dyslipidemia in total, and28of them had dyslipidemia history, the other42had not. Only1patient took statins, and13patients had ortholiposis in their medical examinations. The rate of awareness, treatment, and control of dyslipidemia were40%,1.43%,18.57%, repectively.8. Diabetes:53patients in total had diabetes, and23of them had diabetes history.33patients had abnormal blood glucose in their medical examinations, and30of them didn’t have diabetes history.15diabetes patients took antidiabetes drugs, and20diabetes patients had normal blood glucose in their medical examinations. The rate of awareness, treatment, and control of diabetes were40%,1.43%,18.57%, repectively. Conclusion Current cerebral ischemic stroke secondary prevention in Wuhan city was very poor. The awareness, treatment, and control rate of risk factors associated with cerebral ischemic stroke recurrence were relatively low, dyslipidemia especially. Secondary prevention of cerebral ischemic stroke needed to be improved.
