Lean Production (LP) and Six Sigma are two most popular production modes nowadays. With the development of theory and practice, people are trying to find out a production mode that has the advantages of LP and Six Sigma and will be beyond them. But so far, people have some different viewpoints on Lean Six Sigma (LSS). Even more some viewpoints are wrong. Many companies don't know how to implement LSS to get the result of 1 + 1 > 2. So it will be studied in this paper on the following aspects--the theory of LSS, the control strategy and optimization method on Multi-item Small Lot Production (MISLP), strategy of Kanban system under variation environment.Firstly the theory of LP and Six Sigma are introduced. With the comparision of LP to Six Sigma, necessity and feasibility to integrate the two modes are studied. The definition and domain of LSS are clarified. To implement LSS successfully, the procedures, tools to be used, organization, qualification and responsibility of staffs, key success factors are discussed.Secondly, general strategy to control and optimize MISLP is put forwards. Control methods and control charts which are used usually are listed out. Because of autocorrelation in MISLP, SPC-EPC is suggested to be used. Control chart, predicting model and controller for SPC-EPC in MISLP are discussed. Based on introducing the conception of quick change-over, common mode of LSS to implement quick change-over is given. Finally with the conceptions of Kanban and Kanban system introduced and the variation sources analyzed, contol strategy for Kanban System under variation environment is established. A kind of adaptive Kanban system is put forwards. The method of LSS to improvement Kanban system is pointed out.
