The dissertation aims at improvement of lean production system under multi-item small-lot settings. On the basis of deeply analysis of research status, the multi-item small-lot settings and lean production system, it tries to optimize production lead time and quality control and improvement of lean production system to agree with the multi-item small-lot settings.Firstly, it points out: mass production system shows many questions under the multi-item small-lot settings and this production system needs to be changed to fit the new settings.Secondly, the connotation, main upholding technologies and inherent makeup connection of lean production system as well as its limitations under multi-item small-lot settings is deeply analyzed and addressed. Then the characteristics and requirements of multi-item small-lot production system are discussed, the idea that designing product and production process with customer involvement and standardization and modularity is raised, and production organization of lean production system is improved through job shop scheduling and just-in-time production, a hybrid control policy of production and material flow is presented, and therefore lead time of lean production system under multi-item small-lot settings is reduced.Thirdly, the connection of production quality and lead time is addressed, and a series of methods of multi-item small-lot production quality control and assurance based on Jidoka (automation) and Q charts are advanced, and a Taguchi-robust-design-based technique of multi-item small-lot production is brought forward. On discussing the connotation and implementation roadmap of Six Sigma methodology, the integrated advantages and integrated routings between lean production system and Six Sigma methodology are showed, and a continuous improvement approaches integrating lean production system and Six Sigma methodology under multi-item small-lot settings is proposed. And finally a case is built to validate the improvement approaches.
