The time-varying fading channel of various environments was simulated by radio channel simulation technology. It can verify the performance of wireless products and test the efficiency of the wireless algorithm.All of these can reduce the cost of test in wireless product research and development stage. With the development of communication technology, broadband multiple-input and multiple-output communication technology is widely used。It has challenged the simulation technology of radio channel.This paper focuses on multi-antenna broadband channel simulation of the new generation wireless communications.According to the research ideas between hardware implementation and theoretical analysis, the key technologies of broadband MIMO radio channel simulation have been studied systematically and thoroughly. The major contributions in this dissertation include three levels:(1)The correlation comparison between the geometry-based stochastic models and the correlation-based stochastic models:The performance of MIMO wireless communication system largely depends on the spatial-temporal correlation of MIMO wireless channel. The spatial-temporal correlation between geometric-based stochastic models and correlation-based stochastic models has been studied and compared systematically in this paper. The formula of spatial-temporal correlation has been derived, and it reveals the essential differences between the two kind models.The correlation-based stochastic models are simple and easy to analyze, but it only describes the average spatial-temporal characteristics of MIMO channel.However, the geometric-based stochastic models can describe MIMO spatial-temporal characteristics more veritably and sufficiently in different environment.(2) The design ideas of the time-domain broadband MIMO radio channel emulator based on the clustered delay line:Based on the design methods of finite impulse response, the generalized channel emulator based on clustered-delay line is designed and implemented, using FPGA technology. For an example, the spatial channel model of 3rd Generation Partner Project (3GPP) and Kronecker-based stochastic model is implemented in the generalized channel simulation platform. The 2×2 multi-antenna channel emulator was verified by the correlation of channel coefficient.(3)The design ideas of the frequency-domain broadband MIMO radio channel emulator:Through the comparison of realizing complexity between time-based method and frequency-based method systematically, realizing complexity of time-based simulation platform is increased significantly, but the realizing complexity of frequency-based simulation platform was less affected by the number of antennas.From the theoretical analysis the phenomenon, the implementation scheme of time-based was suitable for the situation of fewer number of antennas.However, the implementation scheme of frequency-based was suitable for the situation of larger number of antennas,and it can significantly reduce the complexity and save resources.Finally, a modified Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm is proposed and the complexity of frequency-based realizing scheme is reduced. Based on the existing literature, the generalized channel emulator based on frequency was implemented by FPGA and DSP technologies.For example, based on the spatial model of 3rd Generation Partner Project and Kronecker-based stochastic model,the 2x2 multi-antenna channel emulator is implemented in the generalized channel simulation platform of frequency-based.Through comparison of statistics symbol error rate(SER) of communication systems, the function and performance of this channel emulator is verified.Some exploratory study of MIMO broadband channel simulation technology has been done in this paper. The prototype design of the (2) and (3) has been finished.all of these has some practical significance in channel emulation field.
