It is believed that Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) system, one of the key technologies that realize the high speed broadband wireless Internet networks in the future, has wide application prospects in the third generation (3G) and beyond third generation (B3G) mobile communication. However, compared with the traditional single-antenna systems, MIMO systems have many more problems to be solved due to introducing the multiple-antenna.In fact, the performances of the MIMO systems are decided by the fading characteristics of the wireless channel to a great extent. Therefore, it needs to research the modeling and simulation of MIMO channels. The parametrical models of MIMO fading channels are needed to analyze the effect of different array topological structures and different channel parameters on the performance of the communication system, and verify the performance of signal processing algorithm.Based on that, this dissertation focuses on the MIMO channel modeling for new generation wireless communication systems. It has mainly made further research on two main aspects: channel modeling and signal correlation analysis. The major innovations in this dissertation include four levels. In the first chapter are an introduction of the background and significance of the research in the dissertation, and the simple overview of the progress made in research and application an introduction of the background and significance of wireless MIMO technology at present. The main problems existed in the MIMO investigations are pointed out also, such as: based on characteristic MIMO channel, according to varied wireless fading channel, how to minimize the multi-path and increase the channel capacity? In the second part, we aim at the modeling of MIMO channels, the two-dimensional (2D) model and the three-dimensional (3D) model of the Rice fading MIMO channels. The work expands the research of MIMO channels modeling.(1). Give a view of the evolution from SISO to MIMO channel model and MIMO channel parameters; (2). Expatiate the classification of MIMO channel model, and some typical existing channel model. In the third part, Based on Nakagami channel model, provide a solution on narrow band MIMO channel model. In the fourth part, present a new model and its performance prediction for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) indoor wireless fading channels, including the effect of small-scale fading, the relative path loss and shadowing fading. In the fifth part, we analyze the signal correlation in MIMO channels and establish a wideband MIMO channel model based on spatial correlation, AOA, AOD, and PAS.In this dissertation, the explorative studies on MIMO channel modeling and multiple-antenna designing for new generation wireless communication systems show that they are vital to the implementation of the wireless transmission both with high capacity and high reliability.
