Modeling and Simulation (M&S) combined with High Performance Computing is becoming the third important means for recognizing and rebuilding the objective world besides the theoretical research and experiment research. To achieve success, M&S must firstly be checked whether it has adequate credibility, and M&S without required credibility is insignificant. The object of VV&A (Verification, Validation and Accreditation) is to ensure M&S quality and credibility, which has become a hot and hard issue in the research domain of M&S.The dissertation focuses on VV&A issues. From the perspective of VV&A management method and analysis method, VV&A working processes are involved and discussed, such as VV&A planning, M&S design V&V, M&S implementation V&V and M&S evaluation. The main work of the dissertation includes:1. An overview of current VV&A work is proposed, highlighting the research advance of VV&A standards and specifications, in which several main VV&A standards and specifications are introduced, compared and analyzed, and the characteristics and tendency of VV&A standards and specifications are summarized.2. From the aspect of VV&A management method, firstly a V&V activity arrangement & management method, namely VVAAMM, is presented, which takes both M&S product testing and process tracing supervision relevant V&V activities into consideration, and implements management of various V&V intensity and levels by selecting, tailoring, integrating, visualizing V&V activities and generating VV&A guideline. Then a risk-based VV&A level identification method, namely SimFMECA, is put forward, which makes an improvement of traditional FMECA and introduces it into M&S domain to carry out risk analysis, and identifies required VV&A level based on the analysis results, then selects necessary V&V activities through VVAAMM, to achieve VV&A level management.3. From the aspect of VV&A analysis method, three points are mainly taken into consideration. Firstly, the combination between reliability and VV&A method is discussed, and VV&A methods based on reliability analysis techniques are proposed and then two VV&A techniques respectively based on fault analysis and software reliability are given, which can enhance M&S credibility and quality. Secondly, aiming at Man-in-the-Loop simulation, a synthetic fuzzy VV&A method is brought forward, which can synthetically evaluate operational validity of Man-in-the-Loop simulation by using Fuzzy Similarity Theory to calculate the similarity rate between model and objective system and using Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation to assess the credibility of physical effects equipments. Finally, a quality-oriented VV&A methodology is presented in the dissertation. Based on the intensive overview of previous work, the concept of M&S quality is defined, and M&S reliability is analyzed in detail as an example, then an M&S quality assessment method using hierarchical Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation is proposed to achieve a total quality evaluation for M&S.4. An example that performing W&A for MVNSS (MOVE based Virtual Navigation Simulation System) is presented to illustrate and evaluate the proposed methods, which covers VV&A planning, M&S design and implementation V&V and M&S evaluation.
