Digital library is the major part of national informationalized construction as a new resourceutilization management system under the networked environment. At the same time, integrated service isthe main point and future development trend of digital library.Digital Library Information Integrated Service (DLIIS) is a new user-oriented information servicepattern, being in harmony with seamless integrated resources, techniques and the cooperation oforganizations. The pattern synthesizes multi-functions of library services and gives the users anenvironment getting information facing the topic they want in any time at any place.The objective of this study is to establish an user-oriented DLIIS system in China based on thelibrary development of China Agriculture Scientific Research Institutions, and the theory and practicesof integrated service both at home and abroad. The system would take the agricultural research digitallibraries into the continuable developing road fulfilling requirement of China agricultural science andtechnology innovation.Basic principles, research emphases, actual practice, evolution characteristics and progress trend ofDLIIS, and the techniques, architectures of DLIIS system are systematically analyzed and explored inthis study.The dissertation advances the ideology of agricultural information service from resource sharing toservice integration, and puts emphases on the DLIIS system design and information integrated servicepatterns that are as the follows:The dissertation proposes to establish an user and scientific oriented agricultural DLIIS system bythe methods of systematic design and comprehensive integration, and designs the aims, principles,functions of the systems.The dissertation designs a four layers network architecture of DLIIS system according to digitallibrary's layer theory. They are the user interactive layer, system application layer, distributed resourceintegration layer and technical supporting layer.Based on the principles of cooperative construction and integration sharing, and the compactnesswith resource, technique, and service function, the dissertation designs the special system pattern of theagricultural DLIIS. It includes the resource integration service pattern and the services cooperationpattern, each has their integrated service functions and contents.The resource integration service pattern provides integrated services through resource integration.The dissertation also designs its framework, contents and the establishment principles. Its contentincludes several important integrated service methods, such as union OPAC, western language journalsintegration, agricultural data integration, subject information portal and the union retrieval platform.The services cooperation pattern provides integrated services through the synthesize and stretching different service's functions, such as personalized service system-MyLibrary, collaborativeagricultural special digital reference service, union agricultural information consultation and analyzing,and the new embedded service.The dissertation proposes the management mechanism and progress countermeasures of theDLIIS of China Agriculture Scientific Research Institutions.The author establishes an user-oriented DLIIS system in China, its framework and the informationintegrated service patterns are innovative. The study results will have a great value to the development ofagricultural information services both in theory and practice.
