Organizational coordinate behaviors modeling theory of virtual group, an important and advanced research domain of virtual environment technology, is about the theories and technologies of organizational coordinate behaviors modeling in large-scale virtual environment. The main applications of organizational coordinate behaviors modeling of virtual group are large-scale military training system, public safety system and distributed entertainment system. All these systems need the attendance of numerous virtual entities, exceeds ten thousand already, and the behaviors of mass of them are generated by computer. Since there are complicated organizational relations and coordinate plan in virtual groups, the organizational coordinate behaviors modeling of large-scale virtual groups is very difficult. There are two types of methods for virtual group organizational coordinate behaviors modeling—those are individual oriented and take a bottom-up view and those are organization oriented and take a top-down view. Compared with the individual oriented methods, the organization oriented methods are more effective for organization modeling because there are explicit organizational concepts such as organization structure, coordinate behavior plan and norms in such methods, they are the trends of the virtual group organizational coordinate behaviors modeling. However, most of existing organization oriented modeling methods of organizational coordinate behavior is designed for social organizations modeling, and most of them use"contract"or"convention"to model the interactions in the organization. Because such semantics are not very natural and appropriate for battlefield organization modeling, they are not so convenient for battlefield organizations modeling. To meet the needs of behaviors generation in large-scale virtual battlefield system we need to study and present new theory and model, new methodology for virtual group organizational coordinate behaviors modeling and study and present new technologies to develop behaviors simulation system that support organizational coordinate behaviors modeling. The work in this dissertation is about the theories and methods of virtual group organizational coordinate behaviors modeling. The main aim of the work is to present a frame for organizational coordinate behaviors specification. The main contributions of the dissertation are as follows:(1)A theory for organization structure and coordinate behaviors plan specification, the description logic of tasks is presented. The knowledge specification structure of description logic and the task semantic used in the logic of tasks are combined together in the description logic of tasks. Thus it can provide powerful specify capability and it is decidable. It can describe the task interaction semantic in virtual groups and provide powerful services for the accomplishment deduce of tasks. (2)A model for Organizational Coordinate behavior representation and modeling (OCbrem) of virtual group is presented. OCbrem uses description logic of tasks to specify the interaction between the members in virtual group. The model is a layered one which also contributes to the refinement and clarity of the models. OCbrem have a formal description semantic based on the description logic of tasks, it can provide powerful verify capability and deduce service, in the dissertation a verify method of OCbrem is presented.(3)The methodology of OCbrem-oriented modeling of virtual group is studied and a Task Process Plan Oriented Methodology (TPPOM) for organizational coordinate behaviors modeling is presented. There are two phases in TPPOM, the one for primary analysis and the one for the abstraction of the model, and there are three levels or steps in each phase. In the primary analysis phase the task process is designed through task decompose, interaction design and behaviors confirm, based on task decompose. In the abstraction phase the organizational coordinate behaviors model is presented through the designs on three different levels, the structure level, the element level and the relation level, based on the design of the primary analysis.(4) A FLexible behaviors model Architecture that Support Organizational Coordinate group behaviors (FLASOC) is presented. In FLASOC the individual entity model and the organizational coordinate model of group is integrated together by dividing cognitive function of virtual entity into two types, the element functions that are the foundation of entity behaviors generation and the decision making functions that decide the task to accomplish considering the organizational coordinate relations in the group and the behavior capabilities of entity. FLASOC uses model information alignments to realize the management of simulation models and make the simulation systems be tailorable. The behaviors simulation resources sharing in SOA environment can be realized using FLASOC simulation Architecture.(5) A Coordinate Behaviors Modeling Language (CBML) is presented and based on it an prototype of Organizational Coordinate Behaviors Modeling and Simulation support System (OCBMSS) has been built. Based on the tools and services provided by OCMSS the users can develop their own behaviors simulation system. The use of the OCMSS exhibits that it is perfect effective for the organizational coordinate behavior modeling specification in large scale battlefield simulation system.
