Water pollution is becoming a severe problem that our country faced with today and the development of national economy and society are restricted to the problem. How to settle the problem is a severe realistic matter. The development of modern technology provides useful support to solve the problem of water environment. The paper is shaped on the basis of National 863 Project and its topic is the water environment pollution. Adopting the frame theory, component technology and middleware, an application support setting of water environment based on middleware technology is developed and a comprehensive information service platform oriented to water environment is developed as well. The main research and achievements of the paper as follows:(1)To share the information and resources, the whole structure of the water environment comprehensive information service platform is designed by analyzing the water enviorenment work, which is guided for application system development. Under the framework, the major research contains the water environment application service frame, WebGIS application system and inquiry system for water environment sample.(2)The process of water environment simulating and calculating is divided into three layers based on MVC mode; the components library oriented water enviorenment service is builded. As part of water environment management platform, this library can be used to construct water quality forcasting system, which can simulate water quality change between Xiaolangdi station and Huayuankou station on the yellow river, and also be used in collaboration with other components in middleware platform in order to provide refercence for water enviorent management.(3)Web service is a hotspot in WebGIS study recently. Based on Web service and OGC specifications, a WebGIS system for Web service is designed. A webGIS antetype and a group of WebGIS compenents including geographic entity attribute data query, distance measure, frame choosing, contour, GML disposal and buffer analyzing ect are developed. The combination of WebGIS and service platform in application are more practical and can improve the function of the platform extremely.(4)In order to simplify the use of services platform and provide a uniform entrance for multi-application, the WebGIS application and inquiry system for water environment sample are integrated into the Yellow River water environment comprehensive information service platform using eXo technique.
