The Research And Implementation Of Map Service Platform Based On Web Services

The emphasis of the research is to import the concept of Web Services in WebGIS .This paper discussed how to take advantage of Web Services to get over the deficiencies of existing WebGIS systems in distributed computing mode so that we can develop and integrate WebGIS more easily.With the development of component-based software, components begin to be used in GIS domain. Now, the maturity of distributed object technology lets component become an important tool in in WebGIS construction.But in Internet distributed computing,WebGIS built with COM/DCOM CORBA has disadvantages in isomerous systems. XML Web Services is the best way to solve these questions.Aimed at the deficiencies of existing WebGIS systems in distributed computing mode,this paper imported the concept of Web Services and put forward a solution of map service platform based on Web Services by combining OpenGIS specification and OGC geographic information service.This paper expatiated the characteristics, advantages, architecture of map service platform and finally designed and implemented it.The main research works are as follows:1. Analyze the characteristic and status in quo of WebGIS,Web Services applied to WebGIS and the problems in existing WebGIS developing and point out that Web Services has important meanings to solve the problems.2. Analyze Web Services, combine OpenGIS specification and OGC Web Services to construct a framework of the Map Service Platform based on Web Services.3. With the supportment of ArcIMS,develop and test the special connector for Map Service Platform based on Web Services.
