Mobility Management, especially at Internet network layer, is becoming a hot topic in research and industry application in recent years, Mobility management technologies of network layer are independent of various wireless access methods and transparent to upper layer protocols and applications. The key technologies involved in this subject include: micromobility management, location management, handoff management, network mobility and cross-layer mobility design. This thesis systematically summarizes the latest achievements in the research of mobility management technologies at network layer, and majors in location registration of micromobility management, method of effective location management, cross-layer mobility design of integrated Mobile IP and MPLS, and network mobility. The main research contents and outputs are as follows:Firstly, some detailed backgrounds of mobility management is given out on the basis of the mobility management protocol reference model. We present the survey on mobility management of network layer according to location management, network mobility management and cross-layer mobility design.Secondly, a distributed method called LRO (Local Route Optimization) is introduced to improve local location regisration performance of mobile node, which can dynamicly establish an optimized local registration path in terms of HMIPv6 access network topololgies. Compared with other micromobility management techniques, LRO enhances the network topology adaptability of local location registration, reduces registration distance of mobile node and decreases signaling traffic of MAP.Thirdly, a link-based IP Paging method is proposed in location management, which designates Paging Agent (PA) and establishes paging link for mobile node dynamicly in HMIPv6 network. Analysis of overall...
