With the selected topic of "mass media market ecology", this dissertation first analyzes China's promise made during the entrance negotiations to WTO and media environment, then mainly discuses mass media' market-agent and market-competition of China, which includes present condition-analysis, problem-investigation and consideration of counter-measures.On the aspect of promise, the dissertation gives an overall reflection of the promise related to mass media of China, and gives a profound analysis of the problems about China's status in WTO entrance, the disagreement on the balance of right and duty. China entered the WTO as a developing-nation, which enables it to enjoy more privilege with fewer obligations. This becomes the fulcrum of balance. But with the growth of economy, China will be asked to accept the whole frame of right and duty of WTO that is the real fulcrum of balance. The principles of market opening and fair competition advocated by WTO provide an outside reference for China's future development. As for as Chinese mass media are concerned, the trend of opening is predictable, although meager promises were made to open media market. Due to ideology of mass media, national factors should be considered for further opening of media market. However too much media-protection will obviously not benefit the vigor of media.On the aspect of mass media environment, this dissertation mainly discusses the changes of politics and economy, and the changes of relation patterns among mass media, the government, and market. WTO demands its' members to fully respect worldwide principles, law of market and trade freedom, which pushes China to take some new reform measures. Mass media obtain more autonomy and get more deeply involved in the market. Between the relation of mass median and politics, a better system of law should be introduced so as to endow media with relatively independent position. The adjustability of relation between media and government is the basis of harmonization between media and market.On the aspect of media-agent, the dissertation analyzes the gradual process of cultivation of Chinese media-agent and lack of connotation in media-agent. From the view of market theory, as the market-agent, businesses and individuals need to possess three connotations: independent property rights, self-decision rights and profit-making rights.
